Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Sing hey! for the bath at close of day
That washes the weary mud away!
A loon is he that will not sing:
O! Water Hot is anoble thing!
O! Sweet is the sound of falling rain.
and the brook that leaps from hill to plain;
but better than rain or rippling streams
is Water Hot that smokes and steams.
O! Water cold we may pour at need
down a thirsty throat and be glad indeed;
but better is Beer, if drink we lack,
and Water Hot poured down the back.
O! Water is fair that leaps on high
in a fountain white beneath the sky;
but never did fountain sound so sweet
as splashing Hot Water with my feet!
Glad to see you guys are safe! Keep warm, check in when you can!
Yesterday's password-of-the-day call was from someone who knew her password was "detroit". She just couldn't spell "detroit".
Since we have been outsourced to a big IT-outsourcing company, we have accounts on their systems, as well as our hospital apps. I have IDs on over 40 hospital apps, just so I can change passwords.
If the hospital ever demanded "robust passwords" for their systems, the way my company does for its internal systems, 95% of the hospital user community could never sign in again.
*snort*
Heh...never underestimate the power of stupid.
If it's Friday it must be bored meeting day...
~sigh~
I am so glad I'm working at a place that doesn't demand robust passwords changed every 90 days. That gets old fast and I usually end up cycling through three that I always forget.
Changing user passwords was always my favorite part of my tech job. The best was when they didn't know their user name or email address, either.
Urgh! Don't get me started on this one... just don't!
It's Friday.... think about that instead.
And get a job somewhere that appreciates you! I am so happy with my new job enviroment. It's great to work with actual humans again.
I work *with* great humans; I just want to work *for* some. Anyhoo. We have this strange chemical smell in the office today. Ode de overly hot electronics. It's giving me a headache. Maybe I'll go home... that'd be nice.
There's a good excuse. Who wants to put up with nonsense like that on Friday?
Argh, the road I usually take to work was closed due to water main break so I had to take the long way around... only added a couple minutes but I hate being thrown off my routine first thing in the morning.
Ungh...woke up sick here. My lungs are burning and I have a fever and a sore throat. Lovely.
Hope I didn't already pass it to Hair and ecurbh somehow. But I don't have any more PTO, so I gotta go to work anyhow. Or skip the pay.
Git your bread, milk, eggs, toliet paper and kitty litter tonight--major snowstorm expected tomorrow afternoon, 5-6" or more, oh, and rain first. It's a Kansas City winter!!
Not being able to take a sick day when needed is just lousy. I start earning sick time next month... so by the time the winter's over I'll have a sick day...
Take care of yourself! Drink lots of coffee or tea.
Mornin' folkses!
I'm one of those people that thinks robust passwords are overrated and often over-robust. We do have some basic requirements, and we recommend all the usual no-kids-names or super easily guessable stuff, and we *recommend* use of long complex strings but we don't strictly enforce it. We only force pw changes every six months.
It's been fun defending our policy in the face of the SOX audits, but I've so far successfully argued that overly complex passwords merely encourage the proliferation of sticky-notes with passwords on them.

We're going this evening for another supply run. It'll be only the third time we've been out since last Friday.
Did my supply run yesterday. Today it's vet supplies for Miss Cat.
I'm thinking green tea with lemon.
If this cold thing is what the baby had on the trip...I can understand why she was unhappy.
I have to go out this afternoon, out of safflower seed and squirrel food; need to mail bill payments, and stop at the drugstore. Poor Gypsy is just going stir-crazy; no walks in a week and I can't even throw her toys in the backyard 'cause it's still a sheet of ice.
We got about a half an inch of snow last night. I think more is expected later in the weekend, just not sure how much.
Get yourself some good whiskey and some lemons, and make some Hot Toddies over the weekend.
