The Hobbit Hole XXXII - Sweet is the sound of falling rain
The Freeper Hobbit Hole Blog ^ | December 1, 2006

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Sing hey! for the bath at close of day
That washes the weary mud away!
A loon is he that will not sing:
O! Water Hot is anoble thing!

O! Sweet is the sound of falling rain.
and the brook that leaps from hill to plain;
but better than rain or rippling streams
is Water Hot that smokes and steams.

O! Water cold we may pour at need
down a thirsty throat and be glad indeed;
but better is Beer, if drink we lack,
and Water Hot poured down the back.

O! Water is fair that leaps on high
in a fountain white beneath the sky;
but never did fountain sound so sweet
as splashing Hot Water with my feet!

I'm at the library and checking in real quick...the kids are unattended in the children's section...

We are still without power and it may be up to five more days...or tomorrow... G'nad is fixing to get a generator. We have been fine though. Gas furnace downstairs has kept us all cozy, but in one room. It's in the 40's-50's in the rest of the house. We have no water and no phone except for the cell...which I had to charge up at the Vets down the road. She got power 2 days ago. My freezer and frig are empty and the contents on the porch...I have my first walk in frig. :-) The roads are fine. We can cook on the gas stovetop inside or on the grill. Getting a little stir crazy is all. We'll post pics when we get electric and phone service back up. Power is out at G'nad's work too. It's a mess here, a real mess. But, we're safe and sound.

Nice to see you too...I should go though, not sure what the kids are up to. They love books, so I'm sure they are probably fine...and they can't really get out of here without me seeing them...maybe...

Will check in again when I can.

The last couple of days of Dilbert look surprisingly like my everyday job:

My scariest password call was from someone having trouble picking a new password. The "new" one she picked was rejected as previously used. I suggested she create a completely new one. Her reply, "I can't make any more passwords, I only have two children". I pounded my head on my keyboard wrist rest after the call was over.

Went back to work today, first time since last Friday. Temps got up around 38°F, so the ice melted fast. Only worry was ice falling off of trees, power lines, moving cars, etc.

Rose didn't make it to her interview, it was this morning and the traffic was so snarled that even after an hour on the road she was only halfway there. She was able to call from her cell phone and reschedule for tomorrow afternoon, though, so it all worked out.

Heh...my boss printed out that first one, as there is someone it actually applies to. As always with Dilbert, *almost* too close to the truth to be funny.

"I can't make any more passwords, I only have two children".

Oh, good lord...

I'da been tempted to offer her a kitten or puppy so she'd have one more option...
