Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Sing hey! for the bath at close of day
That washes the weary mud away!
A loon is he that will not sing:
O! Water Hot is anoble thing!
O! Sweet is the sound of falling rain.
and the brook that leaps from hill to plain;
but better than rain or rippling streams
is Water Hot that smokes and steams.
O! Water cold we may pour at need
down a thirsty throat and be glad indeed;
but better is Beer, if drink we lack,
and Water Hot poured down the back.
O! Water is fair that leaps on high
in a fountain white beneath the sky;
but never did fountain sound so sweet
as splashing Hot Water with my feet!
Well, by good I mean "better than if they were worse" ;~)
That just gives you more time for your life to flash before your eyes.
At my age, that's a bonus.
Don't know about Rose & Bear, but our David called just a little while ago, and it's snowing in Austin. *snicker*
I think The Rosebear's power (or at least internet) must be out. Hope they are finding a way to stay warm that is worthy of a good story :~)
Especially the parts you've forgotten :~)
Mares are inside :~)
You can see pony's breath, or it's that ghost that lives in that stall, one of the two :~)
Cats out for a few minutes, till they decided they wanted back in. :~)
Dogs go out and play for a bit, then want back in to drive us crazy for awhile. :~)
It's like the weather got the new calendar, realized it was January, and decided to make up for lost time!
Yeah, we're supposed to hit the low 20s tonight. It'll feel more like winter.
I'm just concerned about stuff that's already bloomin' or getting ready to. I bet this could wipe out the cherry blossoms in DC.
And, no, it's not carbon monoxide --- plenty of ventilation in this place! (Durn heating unit won't stop running!) We didn't sleep much (me) or well (DaBear) last night.
I don't sleep well when there's a weather emergency.
Therefore, a report from the southern marches.
We're getting a real "wintry mix," alternating and combining light snow, moderate sleet, and moderate freezing rain. At 12:06, it was sleeting/raining; at 12:39, it's pretty much all snow. At 12:50, it's a mix of sleet and snowflakes. The temperature is bouncing between 26 and 27 degrees; however, we're beginning to wonder if were in a protected spot, as the trees don't get iced and the parking lot isn't iced.
We're warm; DaBear is sleeping, and I'm watching the weather and Are You Being Served? on the BBC America channel.
Now, at 1:05, we're back to sleet and/or freezing rain ...
Glad to hear you're warm Rose :~)
That's what Jack said...
I'll never let go...
glub...glub...glub...
I'm confused... the snow let up this morning and it is supposed to start raining. But looking out da window at da office... it started snowing again.
Hmmm...
"If we said that, we were wrong" :~)
Weatherunderground now shows "snow showers" all day today for my zip. And only peaking out at 34. They're showing the rain starting overnight.
Hmmm...
Amazing home video of icy collisions in Portland |
Maybe you shouldn't ping Rosie to that sort of thing.
Don't you love how in the rules of weather forecasting they can just "change the answer" without ever explaining why it's totally different from what they said an hour ago?
Well, not unless you've got the video camera ready.
