The Hobbit Hole XXXII - Sweet is the sound of falling rain
The Freeper Hobbit Hole Blog ^ | December 1, 2006

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Sing hey! for the bath at close of day
That washes the weary mud away!
A loon is he that will not sing:
O! Water Hot is anoble thing!

O! Sweet is the sound of falling rain.
and the brook that leaps from hill to plain;
but better than rain or rippling streams
is Water Hot that smokes and steams.

O! Water cold we may pour at need
down a thirsty throat and be glad indeed;
but better is Beer, if drink we lack,
and Water Hot poured down the back.

O! Water is fair that leaps on high
in a fountain white beneath the sky;
but never did fountain sound so sweet
as splashing Hot Water with my feet!

Is the interstate the source of all sanity? Doesn't seem like it would be, but people get weirder the farther from it you get.

There are a lot of places in Vermont and New Hampshire that would tend to support that theory. Lot of "characters" around.

Well, there is something to that... the more 'off' people are, the further they try to get from population centers..

Did I leave anything out?

A couple good books; radio with batteries (just because the local newsies tend to go *nuts* with a good storm - highly entertaining). Maybe a household project to pass the time.

I think I resemble that.

But not as much as g'nad.

Heh...I've got bookcases full of books. Right now, I could do Burgess Meredith in The Twilight Zone. Could check the radio's batteries, though.

I received this email today from PFC N's CO:

---------

Attached is an example of the memorial that we are trying to buy - it's solid bronze. Every donation helps, because as you know, the work we do is non-profit. Thank you for the support you are showing our Soldiers and families, is much appreciated.

First to Cross!!!

LTC Glen A. M

Commander, TF [redacted]

Also, while their troop support fund is not currently set up to use PayPal, they have an American branch bank on their post in Germany, so they can deposit ordinary checks and money orders with no problem.

Please Freepmail me for further information, and the mailing address. Thank you.

What would you need if it turned into an ice storm?

To not have to go anywhere!

I can do without glasses if need be. It's distances that I can't see.

Where will that memorial be placed? On base where the unit is or in his home town?

You're still too young yet for presbyopia, when you suddenly realize your arms are way too short to hold something you need to read. ;o)

I assume it will be at their stateside post at Ft Leonard Wood. Nobody plans on being in Iraq, or even Germany, forever.
