The Hobbit Hole XXXII - Sweet is the sound of falling rain
The Freeper Hobbit Hole Blog ^ | December 1, 2006

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Sing hey! for the bath at close of day
That washes the weary mud away!
A loon is he that will not sing:
O! Water Hot is anoble thing!

O! Sweet is the sound of falling rain.
and the brook that leaps from hill to plain;
but better than rain or rippling streams
is Water Hot that smokes and steams.

O! Water cold we may pour at need
down a thirsty throat and be glad indeed;
but better is Beer, if drink we lack,
and Water Hot poured down the back.

O! Water is fair that leaps on high
in a fountain white beneath the sky;
but never did fountain sound so sweet
as splashing Hot Water with my feet!

Besides, the first one I quoted was from a "musical" with Clint Eastwood and Lee Marvin.

Who on earth keeps snapping turtles as pets??

Well...someone in Yelm, apparently. But they're trying to sell 'em on Craigslist.

That just strikes me as a Very Bad Idea. Almost as bad as, say, keeping a poisonous snake as a pet.

Heh...well, fer what it's worth, I don't know what it means, either. It's not just in Italian, it's in dialect.

But it's a catchy tune.

Something about dreaming of her, I think.

Cain't remember. I have a CD with it. Maybe it tells.

Bah, what's life without a few risks? It's a valuable lesson for a kid when his pet bits his fingers off.

What would you need if it turned into an ice storm?

<contemplating that possibility myself>

About the same as for high wind... get out from under the trees and try to keep warm and water thawed.

The firs do better than the deciduous trees like maples and alders in ice. Iced up fir branches can hang straight down like they've been bundled like christmas trees... the alders and maples have a hard time trying that.

It's preferable that life lessons cause more mental than physical damage...

I think.
