The Hobbit Hole XXXII - Sweet is the sound of falling rain
The Freeper Hobbit Hole Blog ^ | December 1, 2006

Posted on 12/01/2006 12:55:15 PM PST by ecurbh

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Sing hey! for the bath at close of day
That washes the weary mud away!
A loon is he that will not sing:
O! Water Hot is anoble thing!

O! Sweet is the sound of falling rain.
and the brook that leaps from hill to plain;
but better than rain or rippling streams
is Water Hot that smokes and steams.

O! Water cold we may pour at need
down a thirsty throat and be glad indeed;
but better is Beer, if drink we lack,
and Water Hot poured down the back.

O! Water is fair that leaps on high
in a fountain white beneath the sky;
but never did fountain sound so sweet
as splashing Hot Water with my feet!

I'll give that some series consideration...

took th 10-.22 to the last shows round here, asked a fair price, had alotta folks do the touchie-feelie thing on it, but no series offers...

if'n you remember, I made a deal with mrsnad that I'd holdoff on the 917 till I sold the 10-.22... never dreamed I'd still have it...

Oh! I forgot to tell you!!

I went to Lowes, looking for those bells and couldn't find them. I went back again today and found them and not only that...I got them on SALE! Big time! They were originally around $13 a box and got them for...[drum roll]...$2.33 a BOX!!! I bought SIX BOXES of them! LOL!!

We came home and immediately packed them away into sturdy boxes for next year.

Oh, and Steve has an interview with a consulting firm here in Tulsa on Tuesday.

Thank you! I'll tell him!

The guy that called him got his resume off the Hire OSU Grads website (ahem...I put it there.) He called him here at home! (Steve took this whole week off...)

David got an e-mail from someone at Google the other day. He'd put his info on some website for Computer Science grads, with his education and research info, and someone thought it interesting enough to contact him. We told him to write back PRONTO! He did so, and sent her additional info about some research he'd done with his major professor, and that was included in some large meeting this past summer, which neither he, nor his profs were able to attend.

His schedule is pretty flexible, so he could actually do an internship not just over the summer, but could start early in the Spring.

I sure hope they like his info, and get back in touch with him! He's excited about the possibility of working there.

Here's the current status of our efforts to do something to commemorate PFC N.:

I'm in email contact with his CO in Iraq, and family support officer in Germany. I have the dates (no times set yet) of the visitation and the funeral, and the address of the funeral home. Freepmail me for the details.

Aside from cards and flowers, a contribution to their family support fund would be good. It was also mentioned that a nice game console for the troops out in the sandbox would be much appreciated for their sparse off-duty hours. Maybe an X-Box with a plaque on it, and a pile of games? This would be a longer-timeframe item.

That's vey exciting, Suzi! Some of my friends from grad school got interviews with Google and they all were very impressed with the quality of the company.

We're back. Yay. All done with travel for a good while. And we have two days to relax together before work. And as far as I can tell, all presents made it back intact. I wasn't worried about much of anything beside a pair of Waterford candlesticks Talon's parents gave us as a wedding present. I put those in my carry on and just watched it like a hawk.
