The Hobbit Hole XXXII - Sweet is the sound of falling rain
The Freeper Hobbit Hole Blog ^ | December 1, 2006

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Sing hey! for the bath at close of day
That washes the weary mud away!
A loon is he that will not sing:
O! Water Hot is anoble thing!

O! Sweet is the sound of falling rain.
and the brook that leaps from hill to plain;
but better than rain or rippling streams
is Water Hot that smokes and steams.

O! Water cold we may pour at need
down a thirsty throat and be glad indeed;
but better is Beer, if drink we lack,
and Water Hot poured down the back.

O! Water is fair that leaps on high
in a fountain white beneath the sky;
but never did fountain sound so sweet
as splashing Hot Water with my feet!

Thank you Rosie!

I don't know if Matthew and I will be attending the Midnight Mass this year. I'm a year older than I was last year, you know! LOL

You'll only get grief from me if you're in a mini-skirt. ;)

Yay!

I got a $25 gift card to Best Buy. That was nice. And we won a dinner out last week at the party. Talon got a nice little bonus though.

I basically got an extra paycheck for the year.

I didn't know what to say, and didn't really say anything, so now I'm kinda feeling bad.

But...it's nice!

You're welcome! Rose and I both enjoyed that one... the music is especially soothing. ;-)

Yeah, no kidding.

'Cept now I get to fret because I didn't say thanks right. ;-)

Still have to do some Christmas shopping tomorrow, too. I refuse to go to the mall, though. Probably stick to the small stores. You can get an amazing variety of presents at your average drug store...heh.

Also want to pick up some yarn so I can start on a new afghan now that I know for sure that I'm gonna have a new niece!

Just saw your note about the coffee. Sorry I missed it. I'd taken Clare and Joseph with me up to the Church to take down the Advent wreaths and put up the Christmas Wreaths on all the doors. Then we went down to the basement of the school, affectionately known as the 'bomb shelter', to get the 10' tree and carry it up to the Church, so I wouldn't have to do it in the rain in the morning. We started taking all the old light strands off the tree because I'd bought some new, commercial lights, to put on it. Then Clare looked at the base of it and realized that it was bent. There was no way that tree was going to be able to stand straight up in that stand this year. Apparently, whoever took it down last year wasn't real careful with it.

So when we got home, I started fixing supper, then while it was in the oven, I called one of the ladies in charge of the decorating committee to deliver the bad news, then started calling around town to find a new tree. Fortunately, Michaels Art and Crafts had a 9' pre-lit tree on sale, so I went out after supper to get that, then did the rest of my grocery shopping. The only thing I'll need before Christmas is another gallon of milk!

So I'll spend tomorrow morning at the Church decorating, then come home, wrap gifts, and make some candy for the kids and for gifts for the Priests and the Parish secretary. Paul gets in tomorrow night. It's gonna be a busy day!

Yeah...guess so. Just means I get to feel like an ungrateful wretch until Tuesday. ;-)

Well, time to hit the hay here. Want to make fudge tomorrow, plus do some shopping for little gifts for my brother and sister-in-law. I *might* brave Toys-r-Us for my niece, but...I dunno. It's likely to be a madhouse even now!

She's only just going to be a year old next month. So I'm guessing I could find her something elsewhere...even just a stuffed animal or some such thing. And she *loves* music.

Toys R Us was a madhouse last weekend, don't go there now! We got everything wrapped last night. Today we finish laundry, abandon the pups, and pack.

I think yellowface went on Christmas holiday.

*Sigh* Vet guilt building up. I have to get Miss Cat to her home away from home by 2:00.

Not at all Rosie. Just go ahead and write the note. You could even say that you didn't feel you thanked them properly because you were stuned at the generosity.
