Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Sing hey! for the bath at close of day
That washes the weary mud away!
A loon is he that will not sing:
O! Water Hot is anoble thing!
O! Sweet is the sound of falling rain.
and the brook that leaps from hill to plain;
but better than rain or rippling streams
is Water Hot that smokes and steams.
O! Water cold we may pour at need
down a thirsty throat and be glad indeed;
but better is Beer, if drink we lack,
and Water Hot poured down the back.
O! Water is fair that leaps on high
in a fountain white beneath the sky;
but never did fountain sound so sweet
as splashing Hot Water with my feet!
Turns out it was 1991, 'The Dark Wind'. Didn't think it was that long ago, seems it was....
I agree, the original stories are good enough to stand on their own without so called 'improvements'.
We got mail.
I am waiting for Talon to get back from work to open it. :-)
Did Wes Studi play 'The Legendary Joe Leaphorn' in that one, too? I like Studi in that role. I liked the actress who played his wife, Emma, in the recent adaptations, too. She's lovely and captured the character of Emma pretty well.
I've bought most of my stuff online. I'm going to Target at 7am tomorrow morning to see if I can get a ticket to get a Nintendo Wii, when the store doors open at 8. We're going to get one for the family, but if I don't find one this week, the family may have to get an IOU for Christmas! ;o)
RE: Wes Studi & Dark Wind; nope wasn't him. That would have been an excellent combination.
When I googled up Wes Studi, I found that he will be in several movies/mini series in 2007 including 'Commanche Moon'.
Speaking of which... we're just in from Apocalypto. It was good, but not great. It wasn't as powerful a story as I expected from Gibson (rather formulaic, actually), and it wasn't nearly as bloody as I was braced for. The filming was strange - a mix of film and BBC-style beta, and the colors could be more saturated. The acting was great. Thank goodness for 'unknown' actors.
By the end I was humming Creedence's Run Through the Jungle. Just fwiw.
We'll second that; LoM was a very well done movie, acting, choreograhy, costumes, scenery, music. We saw it in a theater first; I got it on tape and most recently dvd. Was listening to the soundtrack on the way back from the range today.
Clannad's music on that soundtrack was great; so was all the orchestration. It's one of the few DVD's that I own.
*snort*

Hello? This thing on?
I guess it's not working ;~)
Yup. Watching season 5 of 24 and poking around the internet for cookie recipes.
We're back :~)
Was watching DVR'd "House" with Clare. Now we're watching RoTK!
I don't think it's working.
Welcome Back, Hair & Ecurbh - we're glad to see you. We've seen the news and were hoping you were OK. OB & LSA
Have you looked at the Food Network website? They have some good cookies in their Holiday section. I found a Mincemeat Crumb Bar recipe on AllRecipes.com that I'm going to try. I've never had Mincemeat, but I found some at the Vermont Country Store website that's all vine fruits, so I can take them to the Cookie Swap we're going to have next week with some other homeschooling families, and at least one of them is Vegetarian.
You guys have power back? Or just cable?
I'm still on generator here. Finally got dial tone, so I'm on dialup for the moment.
We got power! And cable came back with it. We waited awhile before shutting down the generator, just to make sure it was going to ~stay~ on, we had just started watching a movie :~)(I was momentarily disappointed, we were so prepared for the night!)
Now we are watching the news.
