They are all good reads, having lived and worked there, it's kinda like old home week when I read one. Good Stories too, even a couple that featured the Grand Canyon and Lake Powell. Grab a couple for your next TDY...
Hopefully next TDY will be a while off... this one plumb wore me out. :) Durn jet lag.
See, plenty of time to get 'em; traveling just wears ya down; glad I don't do much of it anymore.
Which one are you reading? On our trip South in October, I listened to "The Sinister Pig" on CD. It was really good. I picked up a copy of "Skeleton Man" on sale at Borders a couple of weeks ago, but I'm reading the fourth in a series of Medieval mysteries by Sharon Kay Penman right now, and I didn't want to put another in the mix before I finished that series.
Hillerman's books are really good! You'll probably like them because you're likely to recognize some of the locations, if you're familiar with the Four Corners area.
"The Shape Shifter", it came out last month; LSA put in on reserve for me at the local library back in March. She saw it on the 'coming releases' back then and reserved it on line. The waiting lists sometimes can be 'vey' long, but it's worth it.
Had our office party tonight. It was pretty fun, made some connections with people and won a gift certificate to a nice restaurant in town, so hey, for a free party, most excellent.
Oh yeah! I saw that one at the library! After I read "Skeleton Man", I'll pick up "Shape Shifter". Have you read "Sinister Pig"?

I love that area. It's an interesting irony that a place so empty can be so full of beauty. Speaking of that the res, I made a new friend during my after-hours shopping: a sweet little ol' gal of a shop keeper and her husband who had relocated to Las Cruces to be near grand kids from Zuni. I love the West - I prolly have more acquaintences there from my travels there than I do here.
Yesterday at the airport, my intern and I were standing in line to stand in line to get to security when our boss's boss shows up. That was awkward. Worse was when his boss showed up (the boss's boss's boss) and feels he needs to come up and talk to us. "Hey, if I had known you guys were out here I would have invited you to the [other division]'s Christmas party!" Very nice, but I was grateful to get out of our own Christmas party... I had a meeting, see. Heeheehee.
They recolated *from* Zuni *to* Cruces to be near grandkids.

Sure have, good read. Read them all; the movie adaptations were mostly credible. The actor that played Leaphorn, Wes Studi, was very good. I liked Lou Diamond Philips as Jim Chee. Some have been on PBS; others have been on regular channels.
I agree, what's not to like. :-) Heading out in a bit to shoot some trap with guys from werk. LSA hasn't found any good recipes for 'trap' however.
I knew about half dozen or so fellas from Zuni; most of long term temporary workers were from there, with a few Hopis and Navahos to leaven the mix.
