Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Sing hey! for the bath at close of day
That washes the weary mud away!
A loon is he that will not sing:
O! Water Hot is anoble thing!
O! Sweet is the sound of falling rain.
and the brook that leaps from hill to plain;
but better than rain or rippling streams
is Water Hot that smokes and steams.
O! Water cold we may pour at need
down a thirsty throat and be glad indeed;
but better is Beer, if drink we lack,
and Water Hot poured down the back.
O! Water is fair that leaps on high
in a fountain white beneath the sky;
but never did fountain sound so sweet
as splashing Hot Water with my feet!
We are hitting Pittsburgh for the 24 to the 26, flying out of there the 27th, then in Texas for the 27th to the 30th.
The place we left them over thanksgiving... they had a kid dog handler who was just dragging dogs around by the collar, they got overfed, and they apparently weren't let out afterwards. They were scarred for, like, a day, which for retriever puppies means it was kind of traumatic.
So the school, er...both schools managed to reach the Mrs. (currently in Atlanta for a sales meeting) before they reached me.
Jr. came home about an hour early not feeling well. Cold/flu-ish stuff.
Luke fell on the playground, busted a lip and lost a tooth (it was coming out anyway). He's okay and went back to the classroom, but still.
Of course, the tooth fairy (and we warned her when she did) started the tradition of gold dollar coins per tooth. The bank had exactly one...
I told Jr. to see if Nana needed anything. He said "she's walking around without her teeth again."
I said "so close your eyes and ask her."
All in all, a pretty normal day at Castle Stormhands...
Of course I do have to go into ~the attic~ for Christmas decorations tonight...
Ack! Careful!
So Luke wants his two front teeth for Christmas? Or one of 'em, anyway...
Actually both, the other is coming in slowly...
Mail? Did you send it here or the package place address? (Collins Road?) Because sometimes they don't remember to call about us mail arrivals.
It was way too cloudy here last night to see anything. Today was clear and mild, though, so I'm hoping we'll be able to see some tonight. Last night was supposed to be the peak, but it will continue for a few more nights.
Hang in there Corin :~)
LOL! Yeah, it's kinda disturbing talking to someone with no teeth.
The thread title is startin' to irk me again...
Really comin' down here.
Yeah - it couldn't get any wetter. The saturated ground will weaken the hold all the trees have on the ground.
Shoulda used the post office vending machines, dollar coins are all they give out in change :-)
I'm wishing I'd done more tidying, considering it's likely the power will get taken out again. Won't do to have a sink of dishes. Oops.
How does Homer handle just the wind? Does it bother him, or is it just thunder and all?
It won't get bad till late, you'll have time to do some dishes and get ready.
Good. Can fill the tub, too. I have some water, but...it doesn't hurt to have more.
Homer's a basket case in the wind, wants to crawl in our laps.
You've got that kiddie pool too :~)
Poor guy...I was wondering about that.
The cats seem to get more fired up than usual, but otherwise it doesn't affect my critters much. Cisco can sleep through just about anything.
Heaven help me if anyone actually decides to break in someday...
Heh...yep. Ended up using some of that water last time...
Tam would yowl and wake you up. Maybe.
I made shrimp gumbo tonight. I've never made gumbo before and I don't know that it turned out right but it's pretty yummy.
