Consumer culture and indeed popular culture revolve in large part around shared admiration, shared likes: Fandom, in a word, is a thing that can bring us together.

But what about shared dislikes? Can a community form around that? What is the opposite of a fan club? The answer is the Rachael Ray Sucks Community.

I don't hate Rachael Ray at all, but it drives me nuts when she says "E-V-O-O, that's extra virgin olive oil"... if you're going to say the whole thing every single time, what's the point of saying "E-V-O-O"?

Back in high school I found out some guy I had scorned tried to start an official club of people who hated me. When asked to join, a friend of mine told this guy he had better ways to spend his time. Which is what I think of stupid things like this.

I prefer Paula's Homecooking and *gasp* I admit to liking Emeril, too. But, I have no problem with Rachel Ray. If I did, I just wouldn't watch.

BTW (that's "By the way"), how can you have EXTRA Virgin Olive Oil? I mean, either it's virgin or it's not.

You know, I only clicked this link so that I could see this photo because I was certain it would be here in this thread. Yea, me!

I like Rachel. She is very perky and enjoys her food. She may not be the greatest chef in the world but neither am I! Hope the husband trouble settles down for her.

"Extra Virgin" is a technical term that relates to the acidity of olive oil. For it to be Extra Virgin, an olive oil's acidity level must be below 1.0%. Either that or it comes from really ugly olives.

Hope the husband trouble settles down for her.

If I had a wife who was that cute AND was famous for her cooking, I would remain faithful.

Now you are talking Nigella the daughter of the former Conservative Chancellor Nigel.

She has a great personality and I love her comfort type of food I have one of her cookery books and it is a good read as well a great recipes.

Interesting Rachael was the spelling I grew up with in Britain

Nigella's latest cookbook, which I got my wife last Christmas, was Feast.

It's got some great recipes in it and we try one or two every month.

Alton Brown is my fave too. He is also the only food show my husband will watch.

I have Rachel's cookbook for kids, and my kids love it.

The bread machine is the single best appliance EVER. Makes the house smell sooooo good!

(That reminds me . . . need to pick up mix and yeast.)

What you said. (This goes for people who would name their son Jeffery as well.)

I must ask if "Nigella" is a common name. Ms. Lawson is the only one I've ever run across. (Or is it fortunately rare, like Michaela and Aelfrida?)

RR is just too darn perky sometimes, but it's hard not to enjoy her show.

I like Ina Garten's calm, smooth demeanor and her roast chicken with lemons and crisped croutons is divine -- and simple.

It is great!! I'm telling you that bread I made by hand was like a rock, it was used as a doorstop and we even painted it. I tried 1 other time to make it and that loaf was put outside for the birds to eat. Even they wouldn't touch it , it weathered through snowstorms and the winter. My husband finally went out and got the bread machine which I am able to make wonderful bread with. Everyone should have one.

Never heard of it before or since her. I suspect daddy wanted a boy and had convinced himself they were going to have a boy and as is the tradition in many families the oldest child takes the father's name.

Hence Nigella.

As for Michaela that is getting quite popular in Britain and is very common in countries such as Italy and Romania to name but 2.

Wasn't there a "I hate Shannon club" with Adam Sandler on SNN?

I have lost my kneading tool and cannot find an address to send off for another one.

I will have to wait until the store where I got has more in and then ask an assistant to check if there is a leaflet for spares as the manual I have does not list them.
