A Houston-area family was mourning the death of their 4-old-son who was killed by two pit bulls that attacked as he was playing with his 2-year-old brother. Pedro Rios died of his injuries Tuesday afternoon in a mobile home park east of Houston, the Houston Chronicle reported Wednesday. He and his brother were playing when the dogs approached. The younger boy managed to escape. The boys' mother heard screams and raced to the boy and tried pulling the dogs off but they wouldn't let go until lights and sirens of sheriff's deputies' cars startled them, the report said. Deputies killed one dog and the other was wounded and taken into the custody of county public health and veterinary services. The mauled boy was airlifted to Memorial Hermann Hospital but was declared dead soon after arrival, the newspaper said. Deputies said many neighbors had seen the dogs and thought they were strays. They said no one has admitted to owning the dogs, the Chronicle reported.

Yes, even in the news reports I have seen recently, regardless of the breed, if the information was available, overwhelmingly it has been an intact male dog and/or a mating pair of dogs. It seems there is a connection between either the sexual status or the social issues surrounding dogs running loose and intact. Either way, intact male dogs no matter the breed seem to be statistically much more dangerous than any other combination of factors. That information is always helpful when writing new laws or enforcing current ones.
She wanted it.
17 years of facial assaults such as your pictures demonstrate.
I am heart broken by what happened to this young child.
It is not the breed.
Some people are just too stupid to own animals.
I know someone who has several that he raised to be loving, docile pets. 3 of them were sweet and loving, but one of them is just a "bad seed." No matter how kindly she was treated, well fed, etc., she was just very aggressive and had to be kept separate from the others. She has gotten free and attacked the other dogs more than once and bit her owner when he pulled her off one of the other dogs. I don't know if he still has her or had her euthanized.
I would have had her put down.
His other PBs were actually very sweet.
That said, I would NEVER have one. I'm a lab lover myself.
Bump for a Classic post!!
