Weekend Eleven threw the entire BCS mess into an even bigger mess if that is possible. No fewer than 3 one loss teams lost (Texas, Auburn, Cal) while another one (Florida) needed to block 3 kicks to win their game 17-16 against South Carolina. This week is the week that just about everyone in the national media has been waiting for. The greatest rivalry in college football renews and that game finds that Ohio State is #1 and Michigan is #2 for the first time in the 102 game history of this game.
It doesnt get any better than this. For the FIRST time ever, an 11-0 Ohio State team will play an 11-0 Michigan team. For the FIRST time ever, the teams are ranked 1 and 2 in every major poll. For the FIRST time ever, the loser of this game will end up in the Rose Bowl. This is the best rivalry in college football, and this one clearly has the best setup of any of those previous 102 games.
Ohio State and Michigan have both played dominant defense and very well on offense. Ohio State has a Heisman candidate in Troy Smith and Michigan has a Heisman candidate in Mike Hart. Ohio State has a coach that has brought a new focus to this rivalry whereas Michigan has the coach who was so dominant in this rivalry that Ohio State was forced to make a change. Does it sound like Im having issues picking this game? Really Im not. Every comparison for these teams shows that Ohio State is better on offense while Michigan is better on defense except for scoring defense. In the end, this game will come down to who makes the bigger plays. I think Troy Smith, who has burned Michigan each of the previous two years, will make enough plays to allow Ohio State to win this game.

BYU 42 New Mexico 20
Texas A&M BYE
Western Michigan at Florida State (-16)
I never thought I would see the day that Florida State would be ONLY a 16 point favorite against a directional school. Now the good news for FSU fans is that Jeff Bowden has been canned resigned, but the bad news is that hes still there the rest of this season.
FSU 41 Western Michigan 12
the offense won't stop
14-13 PAT pending....but the play is under review....
Okay, I'll play...
I am a Utah man, sir and I live across the green
Our gang it is the jolliest that you have ever seen.
Our coeds are the fairest and each one's a shining star.
Our yell you'll hear it ringing from the mountains near and far.
Who am I, sir a Utah man am I.
A Utah man, sir, and will be til I die
Ki! Yi!
We're up to snuff we never bluff
We're game for any fuss
No other gang of college men dare meet us in the muss
So fill your lungs and sing it out and shout it to the sky
We'll fight for dear ol' Crimson for a Utah Man am I!
17-14 WVU
Liquidate Ohio State
And humble Woody Hayes
There's a lot of cattle in Columbus
Send them home to graze
Munch, munch, munch!
Knock them off their ivory towers
Send them running to the showers
Liquidate Ohio State
It's a know-nothing party school.

I couldn't be happier. My two alma maters, Michigan (B.S.E.) and Cal (M.S.), are both playing great games, back-to-back. I like both schools' chances, and would love to see them each beat the stinkin' Buckeyes in consecutive games. (Ok, that's a bit of wishful thinking in the second instance but who knows?) I will watch both games in their entirety at home, and don't anyone call unless the neighborhood is on fire or something. Go Blue! Go Bears!
TD Pitt
24-17 unless they blow the FG
73 yd punt return for Pitt. 24-17.
Nice whiff by the punt converage team there :)
ANN ARBOR, Mich. On Monday, Michigan coach Lloyd Carr stormed out of an interview session here with "ESPN on ABC," loudly uttering F-bombs and screaming about the direction interview questions had taken. According to the Ann Arbor News it was one wild scene with a flipped-out coach, a "no comment" producer and a tense clash just days before the titanic No. 1 Ohio State vs. No. 2 Michigan matchup.
I guess waking up every night in a cold sweat after having nightmares of Ginn, Gonzalez and Smith dancing in his head has given us back the old crabby L. Carr, lol.
Ohio State 28 Michigan 18
With LLLLoyd's meltdown and Manningham looking like he's less than 100%, I'll say Bucks 27 - UM 10. (A month ago predicted OSU 24 - UM 13
I think Michigan will be able to run the ball some, but their passing game will have issues unless they can go 3 wides...
That block was Awesomeeeeeeeeeeeee lol, I could watch that over an over again
TD WVU 24-24, its th wild wild wac err east.
LOL!!!!
70 yard TD pass or thereabouts by WVU
24-24
So much for defense....
>>The Backyard Brawl is on ESPN right now....<<
Thanks for the ping on this - I wasn't gonna watch but damn - what a game.
this reminds me of a Boise St. - Fresno St. game from a few years ago that ended up scoring almost every other play...
No problem :)
This is fun.
FG Pitt
27-24....
