A more likely explanation is cat's kittens died and she chose to nurse the puppies, which is the kind of thing that happens all the time.

Someone snuck in the newborn puppies.
Cats and dogs don't mate, and if they did, their DNA wouldn't let anything fertilize. The biology is just too specific. Two very different species can't breed.
It's like saying a man could fertilize fish eggs. It can't happen.

Maybe it's just me, but those pups compared to that cat look like the equivalent of about a 56 pound baby for a human.

I don't remember the cat laying with the dog in any passages of Isaiah.

This is nothing when compared to Rush Limbaugh producing a lovechild with an alien.
The outer space kind.
...naturally.

An obvious sign that Zool is coming...
Dr. Peter Venkman: This city is headed for a disaster of biblical proportions.
Mayor: What do you mean, "biblical"?
Dr Ray Stantz: What he means is Old Testament, Mr. Mayor, real wrath-of-God type stuff.
Dr. Peter Venkman: Exactly.
Dr Ray Stantz: Fire and brimstone coming down from the skies. Rivers and seas boiling.
Dr. Egon Spengler: Forty years of darkness. Earthquakes, volcanoes...
Winston Zeddemore: The dead rising from the grave.
Dr. Peter Venkman: Human sacrifice, dogs and cats living together - mass hysteria.
