OFFICIAL DRAFT DAN BOREN FOR SPEAKER THREAD
11 November 2006

Posted on 11/11/2006 7:07:45 AM PST by 11th_VA

As some of you may know Dan Boren (Lone conservative Democrat from the OK delegation) is contemplating a challenge to Pelosi for Speaker of the House.

Dan is one of 54 Blue Dog Democrats in the House. Since the Speaker is elected from votes from the entire house, if he could garner all the GOP votes and ~15 Blue Dog Democrat votes, he could beat Pelosi for the Speaker's position.

Now is the time to start the "DRAFT DAN" movement.

Action:

1) Start calling talk radio shows talk about the "DRAFT DAN" movement.

2) Call your representative (Republican and Democrat) and ask them to support Dan Boren for speaker

We could try. The Speaker does make committee assignments and at the least, we'd like to see the Blue Dogs where they can do the most good. We have nothing to lose and everything to gain by backing Dan Boren for House Speaker.

This has happened before in American history. After the election of 1856, the two new parties, the Republicans and the American Party (Know Nothings) together formed a majority and elected an American Party Speaker.

On the state level, about 10 years ago, when the GOP was approaching a majority status, they formed a coalition with the more conservative Democrats in the legislature. I am sure similar things happened in other states.

Nope, sorry.

I want the Pelosi wing to run roughshod over the moderates and conservatives. As a matter of fact, I'd like to see the new GOP minority do whatever it can to assist her.

This is the only way the country will see the stark choice between the two parties.

That would take some bold 'Blue Dogs' to do that.

They might even be ejected from the Party!

But it sure is worth the try!

If it succeeded the MSM would go ballistic!

Not me either. Why would I help in any way to disguise the dims from revealing what they truly are ? It's going to be tough enough exposing them given the traitors in the MSM and the spineless wimps that have occupied the "republican congress".

Nope, I want Pelosi, Kerry, Kennedy, Schumer and the "eligible for hanging" Leahy full front and center in all their smug deceit.

I hate to remind you all, but there's more than politics at stake here. Better to have Dems who have some appreciation for national security and defense and will perhaps sometimes work with Bush, than to encourage the worst elements of their party to take control just so you can see them crash and burn - and take the rest of the country with them, unfortunately.

Only on a "secret" ballot would he have a chance. San Fran Nan has too many outstanding chits ready to be called in.

Dude, are you kidding? Think about our troops. They deserve better than partisanship.

Well .. I feel for Dan .. but trying to tear the speakership from the grip of Pelosi will be his undoing.

You see, as Rush described in detail yesterday, what happens in the first meeting with the "newbies" and Pelosi is this: She will tell them - if you want to be here longer than 2 years, you will vote with the leadership. If you don't, you will be out of here in 2 years. If you do, you will receive dollars and support for your next election.

However, I don't think Pelosi realizes that one of the dems who got thrown over - Lieberman - successfully won re-election. I'm wondering 2 things: will the "blue dogs" band together and form their own group, or will they just ride along and take their chances by voting how their districts expect them to ..??

"I have always expected the guys to elbow her aside."

A lot of the guys who are in line to be chairmen have been in the house longer than she has. They don't like being bossed around by a *itch.

My, my wouldn't Mr. Boren's election just rain on her parade?

Is Hillary behind this?

Does she want a "responsible" House so as to avert the liberal train wreck that threatens her and the party in '08? " Dem "moderates" won the election.

Or does she let nature take its course and "Sister Soljah" the looneys ? Triangulation is the Clinton playbook.

Also, what price will Liebeman extract from his fellow dems in exchange for his loyalty in the Senate? Harry Reid's head? .

I leave it to the Freepers whose collective wisdom and insight can fiqure this out.

Do you know the rules regarding voting in the House in terms of secret ballots? Are they allowed? If not, Mr. Boren will surely need all the courage he can muster. Is he new to the House? How conservative is his district?

Nay... I rather see Pelosi... that way they can go ahead and do the damage. Making '08 better chance for the Repbus.
I rather see America wake up and see what they put into the office.. Even MSM can't totally cover up for them.

I think this is really going to be tough for Hillary. While Pelosi appears to be trying to hold the lid on the "crash dummies" of her party (to appear moderate) - Rangel and his ilk will be all over the media with all their hate-filled garbage (appeasing the kooks).

I'm wondering how Hillary is going to handle this because it's certain to cause a lot of dissention within the dem ranks.
