The Prayer Room: Praying for America, FR, and all who need it
Various | 11/8/06 | Knitting a Conundrum

Posted on 11/09/2006 6:49:58 PM PST by Knitting A Conundrum

Unless the LORD builds the house, those who build it labor in vain. Unless the LORD watches over the city, the watchman stays awake in vain.

Psalm 127:1
>

At this time, when feelings run high, the world seems crazy, and anger seems to be the one thing the peoples of the world have in common, I invite you, my fellow FReepers, to join me in prayers and meditation for guidance, God's help and for our fellow man, for America, our troops,  and all our own needs.

Sweet hour of prayer! sweet hour of prayer!
That calls me from a world of care,
And bids me at my Father’s throne
Make all my wants and wishes known.
In seasons of distress and grief,
My soul has often found relief
And oft escaped the tempter’s snare
By thy return, sweet hour of prayer!

William Bradbury

God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.
Therefore we will not fear though the earth should change,
though the mountains shake in the heart of the sea;
though its waters roar and foam,
though the mountains tremble with its tumult.

Psalm 46: 1-3

Hi Knitting - I just realized last night the significance of seeing your post here, especially after also seeing the news video of snow-covered roads in your vicinity.

If you can still read this (meaning your PC is not yet packed), let us know if you had to postpone the movers a day or two, or whether you'll be on your way today or something.

Just wanted you to know we're thinking of you and your scheduled journey. I know you'd hoped to avoid the inclement weather, but it's late November in the West, what can ya do?

Getting ready to go offline, FRiends, but let me leave you with this praise piece until I am back here:

O Lord of my life and Lord of my peace,
whose love is a fountain that never will cease,
and there in those waters my soul finds release,
O Jesus my Lord, all glory to thee!

O Lord of my life, and Lord of my pain,
when the darkness is deep and my tears fall like rain,
your hand reaches out and heals me again,
O Jesus my Lord, all glory to thee!

O Lord of my life, and Lord of my hope,
When I tumble and fall on life's slippery slope
Your arms wrap me around me like the strongest of rope,
O Jesus my Lord, all glory to thee!

O Lord of my life, and Lord of my day
O be with me Lord each step of the way
Until I reach that home where I long to stay,
O Jesus my Lord, all glory to thee!

Lifting you both before our Lord Jesus Christ in Prayer.

"God's love is meteoric
His loyalty astronomic,
His purpose titanic,
His verdicts oceanic.
Yet in his largeness
Nothing gets lost;
Not a man, not a mouse,
Slips through the cracks.

How exquisite your love, O God!
How eager we are to run under your wings,
To eat our fill at the banquet you spread
As you fill our tankards with Eden spring water.
You're a fountain of cascading light,
and you open our eyes to light. (Ps.36:5-8)

God is my King from Ages Past;
He works salvation in the midst of the earth.
With one blow you split the sea in two,
You made mincemeat of the dragon Tannin.
You lopped off the heads of Leviathan,
Then served them up in a stew for the animals.
With your finger you opened up springs and creeks,
And dried up the wild floodwaters.
You own the day, you own the night;
You put stars and sun in place.
You laid out the four corners of earth,
Shaped the seasons of summer and winter." (Ps.74:12-17)

Your Greatness, O God, and Your Majesty Enrapture our Hearts. To You we Look, and in You we Stand, O Mighty Lord. Cover us with Your Blessings, through Sovereign Grace. Surround Knitting and Twinkie with Your Love, Granting them Thy Help, through Your Name. Through our King's Grace and Mercies we Pray, amen.

Great prayer, Kitty Mittens. Thanks again. - I do feel better today; have made the start on the weight loss orders of the doctor, also did a little exercise today - not near enough I'm sure and the weight thing seems like a mountain right now - but I made a start today and hope to be able to have the grit to keep it going.

Rev 22:1 Then the angel showed me the river of the water of life, bright as crystal, flowing from the throne of God and of the Lamb
Rev 22:2 through the middle of the street of the city; also, on either side of the river, the tree of life with its twelve kinds of fruit, yielding its fruit each month. The leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations.
Rev 22:3 No longer will there be anything accursed, but the throne of God and of the Lamb will be in it, and his servants will worship him.
Rev 22:4 They will see his face, and his name will be on their foreheads.
Rev 22:5 And night will be no more. They will need no light of lamp or sun, for the Lord God will be their light, and they will reign forever and ever.
Rev 22:6 And he said to me, "These words are trustworthy and true. And the Lord, the God of the spirits of the prophets, has sent his angel to show his servants what must soon take place."

Lord, I pray that at the end of this day you would strengthen our Faith.
The enemy comes to steal, kill and destroy.
Jesus came to destroy the works of the devil.
I ask for strong faith, when the enemy comes with doubt. Help us to remember what and why we have believed.
YOUR WORD IS TRUTH.
May you keep us by your Truth this night, and give us rest and hope.
May the Grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God the Father, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you forever. Amen.

Rev 22:7 "And behold, I am coming soon. Blessed is the one who keeps the words of the prophecy of this book."

His voice, as the sound of the dulcimer sweet, is heard through the shadows of death;
The cedars of Lebanon bow at His feet, the air is perfumed with His breath.
His lips as the fountain of righteousness flow, that waters the garden of grace,
From which their salvation the Gentiles shall know, and bask in the smiles of His face.

O! Thou in Whose presence my soul takes delight, on Whom in affliction I call;
My Comfort by day, and my Song in the night, my Hope, my Salvation, my All—
Where dost Thou at noontide resort with Thy sheep, to feed on the pastures of love?
Say, why in the valley of death should I weep, or ’lone in the wilderness rove?

O! why should I wander an alien from thee, and cry in the desert for bread?
Thy foes will rejoice when my sorrows they see, and smile at the tears I have shed.
Ye daughters of Zion, declare, have you seen the Star that on Israel shone?
Say if in your tents my Belovèd hath been, and where, with His flock, is He gone?

“What is thy Belovèd, thou dignified fair? What excellent beauties hath He?
His charms and perfections be pleased to declare, that we may embrace Him with thee.”
This is my Belovèd, His form is divine; His vestments shed odor around;
The locks on His head are as grapes on the vine, when autumn with plenty is crowned.

The roses of Sharon, the lilies that grow in the vales, on the banks of the streams
On His cheeks in the beauty of excellence blow; His eyes are as quivers of beams.
His voice as the sound of the dulcimer sweet is heard through the shadows of death;
The cedars of Lebanon bow at His feet, the air is perfumed with His breath.

Heb 12:1 Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us,
Heb 12:2 looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God.
Heb 12:3 Consider him who endured from sinners such hostility against himself, so that you may not grow weary or fainthearted.
Heb 12:4 In your struggle against sin you have not yet resisted to the point of shedding your blood.

Lord, thank you for another day in peace and safety.
Grief may have touched some, but please bring them comfort today, and the joy that comes in the morning.
Give travelers help and wisdom.
Shelter your creatures during the hard weather and provide food for them from your hand.
Help us to understand the fight we are in today, but you are Victorious. Help us to stand, and after having done all, to stand.
I ask that you would give determination to do the right thing to our leaders.
I ask that you would shut the mouths of liars to day.
In the ensuing silence, let your praises rise, and comfort your people with Righteousness.
We Love you Lord.

Heb 12:12 Therefore lift your drooping hands and strengthen your weak knees,
Heb 12:13 and make straight paths for your feet, so that what is lame may not be put out of joint but rather be healed.
Heb 12:14 Strive for peace with everyone, and for the holiness without which no one will see the Lord.

Shelter Runs Out of Blankets and Sleeping Bags to Give Homeless

Albuquerque, N.M. Homeless men, women and families continue in droves to call Joy Junction --Albuquerque’s largest emergency homeless shelter -- for a ride to warmth and safety. Joy Junction sheltered and fed 265 homeless men, women and children on Wed night/ Thursday morning; who would have otherwise been forced to contend with chilly temperatures.

For those who for whatever reason do not want a place to stay, Joy Junction van drivers many nights are usually able to offer a sleeping bag or blanket to at least help ward off some of the cold. But not last night. The shelter’s stock of blankets and sleeping bags was totally depleted. Joy Junction Executive Director Jeremy Reynalds said “I am making an urgent appeal to the community to help replenish our stock. This could quite literally mean the difference between someone living and dying.”

Reynalds said blankets can be brought to the shelter’s 4500 Second Street Southwest location or individuals wanting to know more can call Joy Junction at (505) 877-6967.

Many of those staying who did want a place to stay last night at Joy Junction were transported to the shelter by its van service. The Joy Junction van will also be out making rounds tonight, looking to bring cold, homeless and hungry people to a warm place to stay.

For many homeless people, Joy Junction is their only place of refuge. Shelter officials are trying to alert the homeless that by calling 1 800 924- 0569 they can get a ride to safety.

Reynalds said he also encourages citizens who see homeless individuals (or those who appear to be homeless) to access this service. “Just tell our dispatcher where you saw people and we’ll send our van there to see if they’d like a ride to Joy Junction.”

For additional information, please call Jeremy Reynalds at (505) 400-7145 or (505) 877- 6967.

Isa 55:6 "Seek the LORD while he may be found; call upon him while he is near;
Isa 55:7 let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts; let him return to the LORD, that he may have compassion on him, and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon.

Deu 4:29 But from there you will seek the LORD your God and you will find him, if you search after him with all your heart and with all your soul.

Jer 29:12 Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will hear you.
Jer 29:13 You will seek me and find me. When you seek me with all your heart,
Jer 29:14 I will be found by you, declares the LORD,

Thank you Lord for your pardon that you have been extending to us all this time. You are Gracious and Merciful.
With you, life is worth living and abundant in goodness.
You have blessed us today.
Please give us rest tonight.
I thank you for helping me with my work. You are faithful. I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.
I will follow after you.
You give me a song in the night.

Psa 42:8 By day the LORD commands his steadfast love, and at night his song is with me, a prayer to the God of my life.

http://www.cyberhymnal.org/htm/i/i/iigowise.htm

Immortal, invisible, God only wise,
In light inaccessible hid from our eyes,
Most blessèd, most glorious, the Ancient of Days,
Almighty, victorious, Thy great Name we praise.

Unresting, unhasting, and silent as light,
Nor wanting, nor wasting, Thou rulest in might;
Thy justice, like mountains, high soaring above
Thy clouds, which are fountains of goodness and love.

To all, life Thou givest, to both great and small;
In all life Thou livest, the true life of all;
We blossom and flourish as leaves on the tree,
And wither and perish—but naught changeth Thee.

Great Father of glory, pure Father of light,
Thine angels adore Thee, all veiling their sight;
But of all Thy rich graces this grace, Lord, impart
Take the veil from our faces, the vile from our heart.

All laud we would render; O help us to see
’Tis only the splendor of light hideth Thee,
And so let Thy glory, Almighty, impart,
Through Christ in His story, Thy Christ to the heart.

Lam 2:19 Arise, cry out in the night: in the beginning of the watches pour out thine heart like water before the face of the Lord

Psa 119:55 I have remembered thy name, O LORD, in the night, and have kept thy law.

Psa 63:6 When I remember thee upon my bed, and meditate on thee in the night watches.

Psa 77:6 I call to remembrance my song in the night: I commune with mine own heart: and my spirit made diligent search.

Oh Lord, these are perilous times and danger is impending. We are scattered because we don't hope in you anymore. Have mercy and bring revival to us so that we may run into you, our Strong Tower in the time of adversity.
Cause a great awakening so that we know our need for you. Bring conviction of sin.
Those who are praying, stir them up so they don't cease to plead our cause.
Remember your Loving Kindness toward us.
I pray for the peace of Jerusalem, also.
Grant me sleep Father. Heal my spirit, soul and body.
Who could complain of your judgements? You are long suffering and Gracious.
I thank you for the precious seal of the Blood of the Lamb on the doorpost of my heart.
