Unless the LORD builds the house, those who build it labor in vain. Unless the LORD watches over the city, the watchman stays awake in vain.
Psalm 127:1>
At this time, when feelings run high, the world seems crazy, and anger seems to be the one thing the peoples of the world have in common, I invite you, my fellow FReepers, to join me in prayers and meditation for guidance, God's help and for our fellow man, for America, our troops, and all our own needs.
Sweet hour of prayer! sweet hour of prayer!
That calls me from a world of care,
And bids me at my Fathers throne
Make all my wants and wishes known.
In seasons of distress and grief,
My soul has often found relief
And oft escaped the tempters snare
By thy return, sweet hour of prayer!
William Bradbury
God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.
Therefore we will not fear though the earth should change,
though the mountains shake in the heart of the sea;
though its waters roar and foam,
though the mountains tremble with its tumult.
Psalm 46: 1-3
Morning prayer bump!
(probably my last chance to bump the thread until tomorrow afternoon, but don't let that stop you from bumping it yourself!)
And Jesus went about all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every disease and every infirmity. When he saw the crowds, he had compassion for them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd.
Then he said to his disciples, "The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few; pray therefore the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest."
Matthew 9: 35-38 RSV
Compassion -- to suffer with.
O Lord,
Emmanuel,
God with Us,
Who suffers with us,
Who feels our griefs,
Who knows our pains,
Who gifts us with his heart's own blood,
That we might know
That he knows,
That he understands,
That he cares,
That he loves.
O God with Us,
who knows the taste of frustration,
who knows how it feels to be misunderstood,
who knows the pangs of hunger,
who understands fear,
and sickness,
and sorrow
and pain.
O Lord, our Shepherd,
Open our hearts that we too might hunger
to share that compassion,
that suffering with our fellow man,
knowing as we do we suffer with you,
knowing as we do your work, we work with you,
knowing that as we give, we give to you.
O Lord,
make us the tools in your hand,
turn us into the workmen in your field,
the laborers for your harvest,
as you will,
in the way you will,
this day, and always.
Amen.

Mat 7:7 "Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.
Mat 7:8 For everyone who asks receives, and the one who seeks finds, and to the one who knocks it will be opened.
Mat 7:9 Or which one of you, if his son asks him for bread, will give him a stone?
Mat 7:10 Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a serpent?
Mat 7:11 If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask him!
Lord we ask you for help in travels, for help at work, for help at home and at school. Bless and help those that deal with people in pain or sickness. Please lead us to repentance. Let us get so disgusted with the waywardness of our contry that by your Spirit, we will affect many and bring about a rekindling of the greatness we had when we feared you and loved you, oh Lord.
Jer 24:7 I will give them a heart to know that I am the LORD, and they shall be my people and I will be their God, for they shall return to me with their whole heart.
Isa 57:15 For thus says the One who is high and lifted up, who inhabits eternity, whose name is Holy: "I dwell in the high and holy place, and also with him who is of a contrite and lowly spirit, to revive the spirit of the lowly, and to revive the heart of the contrite.
Father, restore us tonight as we rest. Revive us with your Word and your everlasting Love. We praise you and remember all the ways you have helped us today. We have a testimony of your faithfulness.
Psa 107:1 Oh give thanks to the LORD, for he is good, for his steadfast love endures forever!
Psa 107:2 Let the redeemed of the LORD say so, whom he has redeemed from trouble
I ask for a peaceful night, hidden in you. Hover over us with your Spirit.
We will rise in the morning, newly dedicated to you. During this time of prayer, in these days and weeks to come, please keep drawing us nearer, as you also draw near to us.
Heb 10:22 So let's come near God with pure hearts and a confidence that comes from having faith. Let's keep our hearts pure, our consciences free from evil, and our bodies washed with clean water.
Heb 4:16 Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.
Jam 4:8 Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you.....
Draw Me Nearer
I am Thine, O Lord, I have heard Thy voice,
And it told Thy love to me;
But I long to rise in the arms of faith,
And be closer drawn to Thee.
Refrain
Draw me nearer, nearer blessèd Lord,
To the cross where Thou hast died.
Draw me nearer, nearer, nearer blessèd Lord,
To Thy precious, bleeding side.
Consecrate me now to Thy service, Lord,
By the power of grace divine;
Let my soul look up with a steadfast hope,
And my will be lost in Thine.
Refrain
O the pure delight of a single hour,
That before Thy throne I spend,
When I kneel in prayer, and with Thee, my God;
I commune as friend with friend!
Refrain
There are depths of love that I cannot know,
Till I cross the narrow sea;
There are heights of joy that I may not reach;
Till I rest in peace with Thee.
Isa 35:3 Strengthen the weak hands, and make firm the feeble knees.
Isa 35:4 Say to those who have an anxious heart, "Be strong; fear not! Behold, your God will come with vengeance, with the recompense of God. He will come and save you."
Isa 35:5 Then the eyes of the blind shall be opened, and the ears of the deaf unstopped;
Isa 35:6 then shall the lame man leap like a deer, and the tongue of the mute sing for joy. For waters break forth in the wilderness, and streams in the desert;
Isa 35:7 the burning sand shall become a pool, and the thirsty ground springs of water; in the haunt of jackals, where they lie down, the grass shall become reeds and rushes.
Isa 35:8 And a highway shall be there, and it shall be called the Way of Holiness; the unclean shall not pass over it. It shall belong to those who walk on the way; even if they are fools, they shall not go astray.
Isa 35:9 No lion shall be there, nor shall any ravenous beast come up on it; they shall not be found there, but the redeemed shall walk there.
Isa 35:10 And the ransomed of the LORD shall return and come to Zion with singing; everlasting joy shall be upon their heads; they shall obtain gladness and joy, and sorrow and sighing shall flee away.
Amen, bperiwinkle7.

Note that it doesn't say "suggesteth," it says "maketh."

"Just up the road from my home is a field, with
two horses in it. From a distance, each looks like
every other horse. But if you stop your car, or are
walking by, you will notice something quite amazing.
Looking into the eyes of one horse will disclose that
he is blind.
His owner has chosen not to have him put down, but
has made a good home for him. This alone is amazing.
If nearby and listening, you will hear the sound of a
bell. Looking around for the source of the sound, you
will see that it comes from the smaller horse in the
field. Attached to her halter is a small bell. It lets
her blind friend know where she is, so he can follow
her.
As you stand and watch these two friends, you'll see
how she is always checking on him. He will listen for
her bell and then slowly walk toward her and trusts
that she will not lead him astray. When she returns to
the shelter of the barn each evening, she stops
occasionally and looks back, making sure her friend
isn't too far behind to hear the bell.
Like the owners of these two horses, God does not
throw us away just because we are not perfect or
because we have problems or challenges. He watches
over us and even brings others into our lives to help
us when we are in need.
Sometimes we are the blind horse being guided by
the little ringing bell of those who God places in our
lives. Other times we are the guide horse, helping
others see.
Good friends are like this. You don't always see
them, but you know they are there. Please listen for
my bell and I'll listen for yours. "Be kinder than
necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind
of battle."
God be with you all.

Deep in the night, a prayer of hope...
This be our prayer oh God, that Your Will be done.
Whether we live or die, we belong to You -
As You feed all that live, so feed our souls with Your Love
that we may see Your face, and know You are God.
In Jesus name we pray it...
Amen, dear sister, and thank you.
Thank you so much.
Such prayer and praise is like refreshing rain in a barren desert,
like footwashing to a weary traveler come in from dusty roads.
Prayers sent
