The Prayer Room: Praying for America, FR, and all who need it
Various | 11/8/06 | Knitting a Conundrum

Posted on 11/09/2006 6:49:58 PM PST by Knitting A Conundrum

Unless the LORD builds the house, those who build it labor in vain. Unless the LORD watches over the city, the watchman stays awake in vain.

Psalm 127:1
>

At this time, when feelings run high, the world seems crazy, and anger seems to be the one thing the peoples of the world have in common, I invite you, my fellow FReepers, to join me in prayers and meditation for guidance, God's help and for our fellow man, for America, our troops,  and all our own needs.

Sweet hour of prayer! sweet hour of prayer!
That calls me from a world of care,
And bids me at my Father’s throne
Make all my wants and wishes known.
In seasons of distress and grief,
My soul has often found relief
And oft escaped the tempter’s snare
By thy return, sweet hour of prayer!

William Bradbury

God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.
Therefore we will not fear though the earth should change,
though the mountains shake in the heart of the sea;
though its waters roar and foam,
though the mountains tremble with its tumult.

Psalm 46: 1-3

You actually can make bread from it, too, if you know anything about bread making...it's basically a basic 2 loaf white bread recipe...

I used to bake bread. Now I only (very) occasionally make rolls.

Thank you for the Spiritual Refreshment that is Here Daily, and I'm Lifting Crabbie and La Enchiladita in Prayer. (Dear Rte66, Thank you for Every Prayer Ping you Send to us!)

This is Wonderful from our Brother William Cowper: (Thank you, Dear bp7!)

WELCOME TO THE TABLE by William Cowper

"This is the feast of heavenly wine,
And God invites to sup;
The juices of the living Vine
Were press'd to fill the cup.

Oh! bless the Saviour, ye that eat,
With royal dainties fed;
Not heaven affords a costlier treat,
For Jesus is the bread.

The vile, the lost, He calls to them;
Ye trembling souls, appear!
The righteous in their own esteem
Have no acceptance here.

Approach, ye poor, nor dare refuse
The banquet spread for you;
Dear Saviour, this is welcome news,
Then I may venture too.

If guilt and sin afford a plea,
And may obtain a place,
Surely the Lord will welcome me,
And I shall see his face."

Our Praise Arises to Thee for Thy Mercies, O Saving God. Our Lord, that You would Give us Your Own Precious Son; we cannot Comprehend Such Love. To the Praise of Your Glory, our God! To the Praise of Your Glory we Sing!

Be Pleased, King Jesus, to Grant All Things Needed to Your Lambs who are Crying to Thee. Healing, Financial Needs, a Difficult Job Situation; So Many Needs of So many of Thy Children. But Thou Art our Strength, O Lord, our Help in Times of Trouble and Trial. Our Shepherd, Extend Thy Hand to Thy Dear Ones, we Pray Thee, Loving King. I Lift my Husband in Prayer for Emotional Healing, for his Turmoil to be Replaced with Thy Peace. Help him, Please, our Merciful Master of Grace.

Thank You, our Powerful, Dependable, Faithful, Loving, Sovereign God. In our Jesus' Name and through His Grace, amen.

Dear La Enchiladita,
Praying for your situation that while you are pressed and in tribulation, the LORD will use you to His glory and for your benefit.

It's not easy to go thruogh, so I ask for great peace for you and that the LORD would rebuke any torment or anger or resentment the enemy would tempt you with.

Jam 1:2 Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds,

Jam 1:3 for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness.
Jam 1:4 And let steadfastness have its full effect, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.
Jam 1:5 If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him.

Amen.

This is nice for you from brother William Cowper

II. JEHOVAH-JIREH. THE LORD WILL PROVIDE.—Genesis xxii.14.

The saints should never be dismay’d,

Nor sink in hopeless fear;

For when they least expect his aid,

The Saviour will appear.

This Abraham found: he raised the knife;

God saw, and said, “Forbear!

Yon ram shall yield his meaner life;

Behold the victim there.”

Once David seem’d Saul’s certain prey;

But hark! the foe’s at hand;

Saul turns his arms another way,

To save the invaded land.

When Jonah sunk beneath the wave,

He thought to rise no more;

But God prepared a fish to save,

And bear him to the shore.

Blest proofs of power and grace divine,

That meet us in his word!

May every deep-felt care of mine

Be trusted with the Lord.

Wait for his seasonable aid,

And though it tarry, wait:

The promise may be long delay’d,

But cannot come too late.

Lam 2:19 "Arise, cry out in the night, at the beginning of the night watches! Pour out your heart like water before the presence of the Lord! Lift your hands to him for the lives of your children, who faint for hunger at the head of every street."

Psa 62:8 Trust in him at all times, O people; pour out your heart before him; God is a refuge for us. Selah.
.........
Psa 102:1 A Prayer of one afflicted, when he is faint and pours out his complaint before the LORD. Hear my prayer, O LORD; let my cry come to you!
...........
Isa 59:15 Truth is lacking, and he who departs from evil makes himself a prey. The LORD saw it, and it displeased him that there was no justice.
Isa 59:16 He saw that there was no man, and wondered that there was no one to intercede; then his own arm brought him salvation, and his righteousness upheld him.
........
Oh Father,
We appeal to you for so much, but we are powerless to bring down Blessings, or to guide our own way, or to declare the end from the beginning.
You are mighty, Eternal God, and we need you to intervene in the lives of your people for healing and protection and defense.
We ask that you would be glorified in supplying our need.
I ask you to calm fears of parents who have sick children, bring ready relief to all who are ill, open the supply you have for those in want, rescue the perishing and bring your Glorious Salvation to all who seek you with a whole heart.

WE CRY TO YOU TO SAVE OUR NATION.
BRING US TO REPENTANCE AND BACK TO OUR FIRST LOVE.
HELP US TO DO THE THINGS WE DID AT THE FIRST FOUNDING OF THIS LAND.....HONOR YOU.
I ask all this in Jesus' Name above all names.

The gathering clouds, with aspect dark,
A rising storm presage;
O! to be hid within the ark,
And sheltered from its rage!

See the commissioned angel frown!
That vial in his hand,
Filled with fierce wrath, is pouring down
Upon our guilty land!

Ye saints, unite in wrestling prayer;
If yet there may be hope;
Who knows but Mercy yet may spare,
And bid the angel stop!

Already is the plague begun,
And fired with hostile rage;
Brethren, by blood and interest one,
With brethren now engage.

Peace spreads her wings, prepared for flight,
And war, with flaming sword,
And hasty strides draws nigh, to fight
The battles of the Lord.

The first alarm, alas, how few,
While distant, seem to hear!
But they will hear, and tremble too,
When God shall send it near.

So thunder, o’er the distant hills,
Gives but a murm’ring sound,
But as the tempest spreads, it fills,
And makes the welkin sound.

May we, at least, with one consent,
Fall low before the throne
With tears the nation’s sins lament,
The churches, and our own.

The humble souls who mourn and pray,
The Lord approves and knows;
His mark secures them in the day
When vengeance strikes his foes.

Those scriptures from James reminded me of a prayer I printed out and saved from another thread, so I found it again here: http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1707152/posts?page=219#219

Thanks for that link - I hadn't seen it. I copied it, too.

I'm repeating myself with this verse, but need it often:

Romans 8:38-39

38For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come,

39Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
