Computer Voting Machines November 8, 2006
How can a citizen verify that there vote was counted on a computerized voting machine, when the voter receives no receipt? If the vote was challenged, how could a recount be verified?

I don't like them, the dems get the positive press from it, and their is NO advantage at all for us(or anyone) I would like to see theoptical scans everywhere, you know the ones where you fill in the circle with an ink pen then send it into
an optical scanner. Paper ballot... Then you can count(if you need to)

Are you trying to get us to post more or fewer silly vanities?

How can a citizen that voted on a lever machine (like those that have been used in New York and elsewhere for over 50 years) verify that there vote was counted when the voter receives no receipt? If the vote was challenged, how could a recount be verified?

The machine retains a hardcopy printed by an impact printer. When you confirm each voted page, the audible noise the Deibold machine makes after you depress the touch screen is the impact printer.

Two-sentence vanities parroting the Bev Harris "Diebold Bad" line aren't fresh ideas.

Also, I suspect the voting machines have redundant storage devices of varying technology.

And your point is???
My position is, and you should give it some thought as well...
We are in a very difficult period. We lost big-time in the elections. FReepers need to vent. Cut him (or her) some slack.

My point is there are far too many of these vanities on Free Republic today. While I don't dislike the reasoned ones, two-sentence vanities with little substance belong in Chat.

Why do you care? You don't have to read or respond to them.
The fact is that there have been MANY here on FR that have questioned the position of the administration on many issues...
They have been shouted down. They need a release. The fact is, they were right.

I agree, there is no paper trail and no way to prove corruption if it is present, or mistakes if they happen. But, unless conservatives get together and make voting reform i.e. voter cards and machines which leave a paper trail, it ain't gonna happen. The dems want to keep their advantage!
Just think if there were a voter card, you could put it in the machine to get your ballot and since it had already been used there would be no other ballot issued to anyone in your name!

Because I have to wade through them to get to more important posts. Like I said, I don't care about the reasoned vanities, even on a normal day. I will sometimes read them. They can be interesting. I just don't like seeing two-sentence vanities that could be included as a response to other people's posts.

I don't think I've ever shouted down anyone because they opposed an administration position. What do electronic voting machines have to do with questioning the position of the Bush administration, anyway?

This person's post was easily identifiable as a vanity. He (OR SHE) is asking a question that is not going to be ask by the MSM...

A lot of machines print out a receipt, but you can't keep it. Anyway, how do you know your ballot is counted when you put it into a box?
To: babygene
That could be why some freeper on another thread gave an extremely irrational and rude reply.....
