Now if I was circumspect, I'd say why did you hate Steve Forbes?

Oh, I remember now. He wasn't properly faithful enough.

I'm not bitter. Just trying to be angry, when I have nothing to be angry about. Though I think he'd have been a first-rate president.

The Republican party took it on the chin last night.

I don't plan to sit back and rub my chin too long.

No problem. I worked at HQ during Steve Forbes first run at the Presidency and he lives about 9 miles away.

Tell him he made an impact if not the presidency.

I like Steve Forbes. But the sad reality of politics is that image plays a huge part. Steve Frobes comes across as a big nerd. No matter how correct what he says is.

I love W, but he can't talk his way out of a paper bag and the Dhims have used that to "imply" that he was stupid or worse. I guarantee you that if W was able to deliver a speech like Clinton, people would be talking about repealing the 22nd Amendment.

Our next guy/gal has to be able to deliver a speech without sounding like Jethro. If Newt didn't have so many negatives I'd say he would be great, 'cause he can talk rings around any halfwitted Dhim.

Why did Bush support Arlen Specter instead of the real conservative -- Pat Toomey ?

For that matter, why did the GOP support Doug Forester ( known loser ) over the real conservative, Bret Schundler in NJ ?

While we're at it,

And why did the GOP not support the real conservative in Rhode Island -- Stephen Laffey and supported the Democrat in GOP clothing, Lincoln Chafee ?

Answer -- because the GOP says it's conservative but when it comes to put your money where your mouth is, vote for moderates or liberals anyway.

I guess when you're up against the real thing, people reckon they might as well vote for the real thing rather than the pretend one.

I don't hate Steve Forbes. But I don't see him leading the free world.

Forbes had nmore GOOD ideas than the rest of the pubbies put together. Tood bad Bush and the congress didn't steal and implimnet his ideas, they would be out of power today.

He really is a heck of a nice guy. It's not uncommon to see him walking around near his home and he always gives a wave to passers by.

He is definately not a snob.

Hopefully someday, his political/economic vision will take hold in a way that will make the US an even greater society.

What on earth are you talking about?

Steve Forbes couldn't have won a national election in our lifetime.

Be glad you're not. It really, really hurts. A lot.

I totally agree that we have not received what we should expect from a Republican administration or congress. Very disappointing to me.

I think that W has made some strategic mistakes... probably out of poor judgment of people, bad advise, and underestimating the ruthless hatred of his political opposition.

Unfortunately, I'm not certain of good intentions from all in congress.

However, the folks that 'let it slide' instead of voting, or consciously didn't vote to make a point, shot themselves in the foot. The time for sending a message is in the primaries... When we only have a choice between 'lukewarm' Republicans and the 'house of George Soros', you play the cards that are in your hand.

I know this will not make me very popular, but I wrote in Steve Forbes for President instead of voting for W.

Yesterday?

Remind me; for how many years, did the Dems hold the House, before 1994?

No, I voted straight Republican yesterday. It was painful, I but I felt there was no alternative, and my local guys are pretty decent.

There is no doubt, of course, that Bush is superior to Kerry in every way. However, one can make the calculation that riding out a round of Democrats with Republicans fighting them at every turn can ultimately lead to something better than going along with the most egregious !#?#! from fat and happy Republicans and then watching conservatism getting blamed for the results. That was my thinking.

I probably wouldn't do that again, as I really didn't appreciate the borderline mental illness of Kerry at the time. He shouldn't be near the nuclear button or any kind of button.
