Time for a new Free Republic folding@home thread.
Our Free Republic team of 396 members comprised primarily of Free Republic members in good standing have banded together to donate their excess CPU cycles to a worthy cause. Via distributed computing, millions of computers around the world contribute directly to scientific research, in the quest for a greater understanding of diseases such as Alzheimer's, Cancer, and Mad Cow (BSE).
Currently, the team is in 62th place (with 1,030 active CPUs - 79,000 completed Work Units and 14.71 million points).
This is an entirely voluntary program, and if you want to learn more, please see the links posted below (or read one of the previous 20+ folding threads)
Big Texas Tuesday bump for the Free Republic Folders!

At some point today :)
If you're interested in tracking your folding machine(s) over the web, please Freepmail me.
Available features include:
got a d805 , x24400 and a Core 2 Duo creating lots of heat in my office!
One of my processors went off line. Glad I checked when I saw this thread!
I love it when you talk to me like that!
/ shameless CPU lust>
Pain in the neck isn't it!
Try Egon's monitor. I hear tell that it keep you abreast of what your folding units are up to.
btw.. thanks for the instructions for setting up multiple instances....
I might even setup a few VMWARE'd xp installs just to see how many 'instances' of folding@home I get working on one physical server.
The answer seems to be 8 individual instances of F@H on a single system.
I am still having trouble forcing the '-local' switch on one of my systems. I probably need to look at the service when I am awake.

I'm with you, Drango. Since 2000, we've gotten rid of any kind of cable or broadcast TV, and I made it a point to not listen to radio. It's too much.
It's so nice to focus on something positive like our Folding team! I've been quietly folding away, even though I lost one of my machines (my dh's machine is having memory issues).
So what's with the big point boost yesterday?
Seems like everyone posted above-average numbers.
I know I finally finished a 20,000 fold monster that took a week. Seems that the big proteins will cause our numbers to drop for a couple of days, then come roaring back.
Our old friend Klutz must have the same experience, posting 23,000 points.
Thanks for joining us or adding another system.
New members are the spark that keeps us going.
Please feel free to ping us with any questions that you have.
Not a bad way to finish off a work week!
Every one is really pumping out the points, and our ole buddy Klutz is providing the final push.
To quote Klutz:
"I'm now lagniappe, and the 600lb gorilla who shows up when you guys need somebody squatted on."
Well I've had a nice week of playing Borg-a-Box. Unfortunately all good things and and I will be back down to about 850-900 points per day on average before Monday. It was fun while it lasted.

It looks like we are coming into another target rich environment. We should pass 4 teams in the next 11 days and a 5th team in less than a month.
