It's been a fun couple months for those of us who love football in all it's forms.
We are at the halfway point in the NFL with the conclusion of Monday Night's game.
We are at a critical point of the season in College Football where one loss can ruin an otherwise great season for someone.
This is a thread for everyone who loves football to bring in their personal observations about the football season, their debates and anything else you'd like to contribute.
They are a two loss team to me.
Sure they got absolutely screwed against Oregon, but you have to move on and the team did.
FIU?
LOL
Well they have a pretty tough schedule too. They are facing playoff caliber teams virtually every week.
But they haven't really looked good in any game yet this year.
No, they haven't. They look good at times, but not consistently. The schedule doesn't help, but they have lost to teams that aren't that good. The only thing that gives hope is that their last 3 losses were only by a combined 9 points. Still, that's not gonna matter when their record isn't enough to get into the playoffs come January. They still are mathematically in it, but they'll need a lot of help now.
So it's Stanford and FIU in the Lysol Bowl?
Never know.
I'm not 100% convinced that Carson Palmer is healthy to tell you the truth.
yeah but with a new coaching staff, you'd expect some growing pains or trouble acclimating. But that hasn't been the case with the Saints.
As for the Ravens, I think you can pass over the top on them, but running against the Ravens is nearly impossible.
LOL
works for me :)
Think of the smack that would be talked in that game :)
I don't think it's a lack of hunger by the Steelers, I think it's a lack of focus. Roethlisberger is just plain banged up and shouldn't have started at least 3 more times this year (between the apendectomy and the bye, and after the concussion). When push comes to shove what's hurting the Steelers more than anything is the loss of Randal El, we might have been able to survive losing the extra couple of yards he gets on kick returns, but his replacements can't hold onto the damn ball, fumbled punts gave Cinci a lead they wouldn't relinquish, gave Atlanta their first points in the game, and gave Denver a two score lead the Steelers never overcame. Everybody focuses on the INTs because they all come from the same person but there's been tons of fumbles spread all over the team too.
I too doubt he is 100%. And he isn't planting his left leg like he used to. Some mental things to overcome. Not to mention that he has about 2 seconds to throw before he gets hit by the pass rush.
When did he graduate?
Problem with Grossman is that when he's not playing really well he's playing simply terribly. The highs are pretty impressive but man those lows.
He's been hurt.
The coaching staff could have been an issue, but I think bringing in Brees really helped that. He seems to be a really stable guy and very pro coach. And of course they started off winning which really helps a team get confidence in the new coaching staff.
You can pass over the top on the Ravens so long as it's a fairly quick route, they got those two scary LBs that blitz well and make teams not want the QB to hold the ball long.
All I know is that he's having a great year this year. I also have this vague remembrance he was QB in a bowl game where they played Michigan a while back.
He graduated 2003. He sufferered season-ending injuries in 2004 and of course, sat out most of last year.
I don't know.
Chris Henry was able to get downfield on them relatively easily....
It's always the same situation when facing blitzing teams, if the line holds or the QB and receivers find the gaps you'll cremate them, if you don't you're toast. And remember the defense always has to succeed on three plays in a row while the offense can get by succeeding on one play out of every three, over the long haul this math favors the offense.
yeah but they aren't the first team to do so.
The Ravens will still win the AFC North, but I don't think they have what it takes to get to the Super Bowl.
