Haggard accuser admits to timing allegations to influence election

Haggard accuser Michael Jones, according to today's Rocky Mountain News, timed his revelations in order to influence voters in Tuesday's election:

"Jones said he had thought about revealing his alleged affair with Haggard months ago but was advised by his attorney that he needed to gather more evidence. He said he decided to come out with his story before the election to influence voters."

Ok, Haggard is fighting personal demons and gave this guy ammo...but this was very obvious from the get-go.

The gay agenda has gone into attack mode. Watch for it to get worse in the next couple of years.

This only strengthens my resolve to vote for the amendment to protect marriage and against the initiative to grant same-sex "spouse" benefits and status.

I think the Dems have been planning quite a while to have all these nasty allegations revealed that probably won't be born out, but that might very likely influence the elections. I think it's a Rahm project that has been in the works for some time.

He's been touring the country with people like James Dobson, Chuck Colson, Ann Coulter, and a host of Republican politicos trying to get the "values voters" out on election day. Solid Republicans aren't going to be influenced by this, but there are likely some others, especially if they listened to and respected Haggard's messages before all this blew up in his face.

Not all conservatives are "broken glass" Republicans.

Haggard has been an advocate for the marriage amendment (Amendment 43) that is on the ballot in Colorado.

I could care less if Falwell, Dobson or anyone else is a pervert, either. People must have extremely weak internal compasses if they would switch beliefs because one of their role models turns out to be (fill in the blank). Who cares? Right is right, it doesn't change with the wind.

The evangelical who is tormented by guilt and his own desires is a pretty old story. Happens again and again.

Foley and Haggard gave up any chance of sympathy when they publicly denied liberalism. Apparently both had a weakness of character that liberalism could exploit.

Had they been liberal, then being a closet homosexual would be a badge of honor, and any who looked sideways at them would be labeled a homophobe.
