Another public cleansing--haven't had one since Jim Bakker and the PTL scandal.

Are you kidding? I think Jimmy Swaggart by himself has had three or four in that time!

I really, really, really hate the TV preachers. Thieves, liars, snakes and vermin, almost to a man.

God's cleansing judgement begins at the household of God, but doesn't stop there. It's interesting to note how, immediately after our freak shows made page 1, the house banking/post office scandals broke.

Jimmy Swaggert wrote the book " A Minister's Guide to Lay People".

Well, on the plus side,
someday my dream of a tryst
with Paula White might

come true! But I hope
she doesn't get jacked on crack
before we make out . . .

Not all the tv preachers are bad. The really wierd showy ones are but Stanley, Kennedy, Laurie, Graham, Yusef, and several others are very solid.

Good for James Dobson for calling him to account too. Because if either of these admissions is true, this guy has done a huge amount of damage to the church and he needs to be kicked out of the ministries and apologize to NON-BELIEVERS and believers alike. These are not inadvertent sins.....these are beyond the normal little temptations into which a person might accidentally fall. He sought these sins out if they are true.

The thing is...Jim Bakker's repentance is very real...he lives a quiet life occaisionally helping out unobtrusively in his daughter's soup kitchen ministry or was the last time
I heard about him. He hasn't tried to claw his way back into the public light the way his wife has.

Swaggart strikes me very cold and wolf like in a veneer of lamb's clothing. Bakker was just all too human and swept up in a lifestyle and pressures that left him far from God.

The last picture I saw of him was one of deep and profound humiliation and sadness, a sampson shorn of his hair.

Perhaps God will put him in a place where like Sampson, he'll use Bakker to bring a spiritual Dagon's temple down someday!

You are probably right about some of them, but I would bet the overwhelming majority are far from the cliches you have listed.

I agree. I can't believe how many people get snookered by them.

I happen to agree! They are nothing but "carnival hucksters". I find it sad that there are people who need a side show and a bunch of trinkets to fulfill their religious needs. These Mega Churches do not provide the community togetherness or family values we need in this day and age.

The Mega Church is more about money, more money so they can expand, bring in a better band next month or a new hi tech lighting system and more smoke and mirrors! No way the preacher personnaly knows anybody waking through his doors unless they have donated large amounts of money to him!

First time I saw W. J. Clinton I had the same feeling about him, slick, slimy snake oil. When he continually cried out "I feel your pain" I knew I was right about him! Just another TV Preacher! And the sad thing is ... People Believed Him!
