Norway: Head takes a stand on boys who miss

Norway has become embroiled in a dispute over the nature of masculinity after a primary school headmistress tried to ban boys from urinating while standing up.
Anne Lise Gjul, the headmistress of a mixed primary school in the southern Norwegian city of Kristiansand, wanted to introduce the measure after complaints from cleaners that many male pupils could not aim properly.
The measure has drawn condemnation from Right-wing Norwegian politicians, however, who say it blurs a God-given distinction between the sexes.
"If boys are not allowed to pee in the natural way that they have done for generations, then it amounts to an assault on God's creations," thundered Vidar Kleppe, the head of Norway's Justice and Order party.
The controversy erupted after Mrs Gjul wrote a letter to parents asking them to think about her suggestion. "Help. We have to wipe up a lot around the lavatory bowls and it's beginning to get on our nerves," she wrote. "Discuss at home whether boys should instead sit down when they go for a pee. Many thanks," she added.
The suggestion did not please Nancy Bakke, whose seven-year-old son Benjamin had been attending the school for more than a year. For months, she insisted, she had painstakingly taught her son how to take proper aim while urinating and now the school was attempting to undo all the good work. "This rule goes against everything that I have tried to teach my son," she said.
The Norwegian media have discussed little else since. Television channels have carried out interviews with the headmistress and seven-year-old boys who admitted that they had difficulty in aiming.
"Boys are equipped to pee standing up and for that reason they should," wrote one online commentator. "Boys are being forced to become feminine," wrote another.

This woman should be tied to a tree and horse whipped.

I wonder how they ever would enforce this? And I wonder just how many boys would actually do it, even for a little while. I think, not many. Or, I should say, I HOPE not many.

There's nothing wrong with peeing standing up.
I've found that it's very helpful when camping. :-)

For months, she insisted, she had painstakingly taught her son how to take proper aim while urinating... Funny, I don't remember having to be taught this. It seems like common sense to me.
I wish grown men would do better in public restrooms, though!

I find it best to pee laying across the toilet in the "flying superman" position.
I've always wondered why men suddenly become brutes when they use public restrooms. I've determined that it's mostly little kids leaving towels in the sink, paper on the floor, piss on the floor, etc. I happened upon kids doing these things a couple of times when we had a restaurant. They rush in and out of there like the Super Bowl is on or something.

God no. Most public restrooms look like they've held cattle for weeks. I'd rather soil myself than use a public restroom.

I'm with you. I'd rather suck soup from a public restroom floor than vote for Pelosi....
