Did it have an owl, asking how many licks it took to get to the center of a Tootsie Pop? I think that was for Charms Blow-pops.

If what I just wrote made you sad or angry,
it was probably just a joke.

I think I remember a show on NBC. They had a GM truck and they said, "This truck will explode if you run over a fork in the road."
Something like that.

That was for the Kitchen Industries' 1978 salad fork.
Comfortable grip, elegant tines. Truly, a fork for the ages.

The May issue of National Geographic ran an ad for the
Toyota 4Runner that featured the SUV in a remote location, with the headline:
No intelligent life out here. Just you.
But wait, there's more:
If youre going to be a copywriter, you have to be clever. You have to be a conscious of flow and metre, of metaphor and wordplay. You also have to be aware of what you are actually saying.
If:
There is no intelligent life out here
and:
I am out here
then:
I am not intelligent life
Therefore:
Toyota thinks people who buy 4runners are stupid.
QED.
This isnt to say that the concept sucks
just the execution. The sad part is, Im sure the guy who wrote this is brilliant, and just happened to be half asleep the day he wrote that. Im sure hes kicking himself now.
