My most memorable quote from the early days of Solidarity was from an ordinary guy who,when asked to describe what it's like living and working in Poland,said..."well,we pretend to work and the government pretends to pay us".

I think that that guy summed up Communism pretty well.

They are fighting to get it on the UNESCO list, I don't know when, but it's the biggest example of socialist architecture, I mean the whole complex yeah, with not so much distribution of different types of architecture, so a local group is fighting for this.

I have been there in the late 80ties and it was fascinating. The steel mill was like a hissing dragon spitting its dark fumes into the atmosphere and the architecture of the town is for sure mind-blowing. Socialism or not. Everything had the smell of burning coal.

There is for sure reason to get this place onto the UNESCO-list.
