My most memorable quote from the early days of Solidarity was from an ordinary guy who,when asked to describe what it's like living and working in Poland,said..."well,we pretend to work and the government pretends to pay us".

I think that that guy summed up Communism pretty well.

I remember from my early years that one day I was walking near the "pub" (in fact it was some kind of wooden box with beer) when some lady shouted at a guy who was drinking a beer with his friends: "go to work - you should be at work now!"... But he took it easy :)
