I've seen Buddy and his story on TV several times the past two days and just get a big grin on my face each time.
Atta boy, Buddy!

an identifying microchip implanted in Buddy's skin ... Ortega said he had been scouring the area for his dog since he ran away about two weeks ago Wouldn't the chip have helped the man find his dog? If not, what's the point of the chip?

Who is this dog? Brian from "Family Guy?" How would he know where the ER is?
To: BenLurkin
Good boy, Buddy.

Very cool.
I wonder if it made Katie Couric's news, today.

Well, rest assurred if the dog came here illegally we would be obligated to pay for his care.

Somebody has to find the dog first, then they have to be equipped with the right kind of scanner. It did work out right, once he put his paw down and refused to budge from the ER until he got waited on!

Yeah, but he didn't have his chip implanted, so nobody knew who he was.

A dog walked into our Company's stores a couple of years ago and we called the dog catcher. He turned up in his van and found the chip on the dog and they have one of those scanners in the van and immediately it showed the owner lived just round the corner.
He rang him and he turned up within about 10 minutes to reclaim his dog and of course get a lecture from the dog catcher on making his garden secure so that the dog cannot get out in future.
If and when I get another dog I will certainly get one of those chips.

Good deal. I love to hear happy ending stories about lost pups.
There must be millions of chips implanted by now, so that it's common. I haven't had a dog since they've started doing it, but I certainly would if I get another one.
