Help! Almost two years ago, hubs began having an itchy rash. The only thing that calms it is taking steroids, not good. It's been a tossup whether it's a dermatological or an allergy problem. He's seen two dermatologists who've biopsied and found nothing.
Also, full battery of allergy tests and is allergic to a lot, soy in particular. It's said that the rash is possibly a form of psoriasis that lasts 2-5 years. When it's full bore he scratches while asleep and wakes up bleeding.
Any help would be appreciated...thank you...
LOL!!!
Why would I, a Juilliard trained dermatologist, send him to another doctor?
Bwahahahaha~!
Hubs is my spousal unit.
"Schmoopy!" It's hard to leave with good Seinfeld reruns on. I was not that into it when it was on but I am now. Same with Friends. They had to get rid of that monkey first....
I was into Seinfeld during it's original run but never watched Taxi until it hit the rerun circuit. It was a great show. The same for me with MASH. I only got into it when it went into syndication.
I got hooked on The King of Queens in reruns too. I've never watched Friends but I may have to start. Unless of course, I start getting out more.
Dermatologist rec. it and it's probably something he will have to live with.
Source...who knows?
He had to take a series of allergy shots a few years back.
It seems to flare up when he's stressed.
Shingles? Shingles are caused by a herpes virus similar to chicken pox.
"Wouldn't Lyme's cause fever?"
Not necessarly. Late stage Lyme causes a whole host of problems neurological to arthritis. Lyme is extremely difficult to diagnose.
Also stress can play a role.

Out of desperation, I searched the internet and ran across Dr. Stoll's website and in info about about leaky gut syndrome.
It sounded plausible. Anyway, my sister is greatly improved and off all drugs.
She also has used a product called Virusine for a skin virus that is like shingles. Said it worked great. A spray zinc might also be beneficial.
I wouldn't. That stuffs weird.
Had the same problem. Went to dermatologists for two years. They always started by asking if I was allergic to any foods. I said no.
Then one of my dogs got a rash and the vet put him on a lamb and rice diet. I looked at all the dog foods that were advertised for skin problems. They all had one thing in common. No beef.
So I stopped eating beef and lots of problems, including intestinal polyps, went away.
I now limit my self to occasional "organic" beef, and once in a blue moon, a big greasy cheeseburger. I just can't resist.
Unfortunately rashes are the worst to try to figure out.
New soap? Laundry detergent?
Keep a food diary.
Might want to try switching to cashew butter for a while and see if that helps.
Thank you all for your input. He could probably stand giving up beef. I'd be hard pressed if it were me.
Mad Ivan, is that because of Mad Cow disease? I know a Brit who said he can't give blood because of it!
I've been drinking it for over a year and have been blest with good health. My MIL, who is in remission of breast cancer started drinking it, and it was observed that her blood count got better after four years of a low count.
Could be coincidence, I'm not a doctor or nutritionish.
Yes it is weird, but it is full of healthy organisms and pro-biotics which are bodies need.
Try some theraputic grade Lavender oil directly on the itches. It will soothe the nerves where applied and help regenerate the wounded tissue and speed healing. It cleanses open sores as it is a natural antiseptic, analgesic, and sedative.
Its very calming and relaxing when used in a daily regiment. It may help with the cause of the rash, but will definatly help with the itch.
Paw-in-law got hold of one of the shrooms that is used to make the stuff and started growing a batch in the center of the dining room table until maw-in-law caught him. Made him move it.
If it works for you far be it from me to object. But I aint drinkin it myself.
It won't be long now before we see a vanity like this one: FReeper Help Needed! I've Got A Mosquito Bite On My Ass, Should I Itch It.
Well, I guess it's not a critical matter of public import like, say, "THE TOP 10 UGLIEST, most embarrassing fashion trends of the past 25 years".
What great news about your sister and thanks for the tip about the Virusine and zinc spray. Dr. Stoll probably has no idea just how many people he's helped. He's a true humanitarian and healer.
