Reduce our nation's dependence on foreign oil, dangit!
Why isn't Bush and our leaders strongly encouraging American employers to implement a teleworking program? The benefits are many! It would:
Reduce our dependence on foreign oil. [That's the biggie.]
Reduce air pollution.
Reduce traffic congestion.
Allow more disabled Americans to work. [big money saver]
There are many other obvious benefits. So why aren't more people teleworking? Why isn't our government encouraging teleworking in the private sector?
I'M SICK AND TIRED OF BEING DEPENDENT ON FOREIGN OIL!
Why isn't anyone doing anything about it????
I *looove* telecommuting.
Telecommuting is a great idea, but I personally don't know anyone that has a job where it would be feasible.
Every government worker who can, should. Of course, at some point it will become apparent that we can outsource those jobs.
With new technology today, alot of office work could be done from a home office. Maybe it's not feasible for 100% of the work to be done from a home office, but what about one day a week? Or two?
What it boils down to is that I'm sick and tired of being dependent on foreign oil and I'm trying to think of ways to reduce that dependency, Telecommuting is one option.
I get the distinct impression that our dependence on foreign oil is not a priority for most. If it is then why am I not seeing a strong push to do something about it?
Bingo... any job that can be done at a computer in your home, can be done at a computer in India.
"Every government worker who can, should. Of course, at some point it will become apparent that we can outsource those jobs."
Good point that I had not though of. If a job can be worked from home, It can be worked from a home in India.
I agree, but there's a lot of people in my area with clearances, that can't do work at home. I certainly wish I could.
In lieu of working at home, better public transportation would help a lot.
