Cameo Patch |
A female high-school substitute teacher in Utah will serve no time behind bars for performing oral sex on a 17-year-old male student, despite comments from the judge that a man would have likely gone to prison.
"If this was a 29-year-old male and a 17-year-old female, I would be inclined to order some incarceration," noted 3rd District Judge Mark Kouris during sentencing yesterday for Cameo Patch.
Patch was a fill-in instructor at Tooele High School, and was arrested after an informant disclosed her alleged relationship with the boy.
She was put on probation for 36 months, and ordered to obtain a psycho-sexual evaluation, as well as pay a $2,000 fine.
"The only thing I can say is that I understand the mistake that I made," Patch told the judge, according to the Salt Lake Tribune. "It opened my eyes to the life I want to live for myself and my [three] kids. I'll never wind up in this situation again."
She and her husband divorced last month.
Patch and the boy reportedly met in the classroom, but engaged in the alleged wrongdoing off campus after school. All indications are the sexual activity was consensual.
According to the police report, "... [Patch] and the juvenile met in a local restaurant, exchanged phone numbers, and arranged to meet to talk later in the evening. During the course of the meeting between the two, sexual activity between [Patch] and the juvenile occurred."
The informant stated Patch "performed oral sex" on the student, but did not engage in sexual intercourse.
Defense attorney Jon Williams said the boy had "created the environment and invited..."

I guess I don't quite understand what you mean. You quoted my quote from another poster, not my words, so I'm not sure what you're referring to.
In the case we're discussing, an older, married teacher had sexual contact with a 17-year-old boy. I described a similar situation that occurred in my life and countered the other poster's contention that all 17-year-old boys would jump a the opportunity.
The situations are quite similar, so I don't understand the "out of context" remark.

If she looked like Hillary Clinton, she would be doing time. Let's cut out the middleman and just throw Hillary in the slammer.

It was a simple joke (I can't resist the really stupid ones.)
I read the end of your sentence quoting the other post as "seventeen inches." It wouldn't have looked the same on the original post.
(I just posted on a very similar thread the other day, so the only serious thing I'd have to say would just sound like a broken record.)

her changing jobs etc would have made it OK and not an issue.
Well, it would've made it OK legally assuming the age of consent in her state is 17 (which I don't know for sure). It would've still be morally reprehensible.

Pedophilia, by definition, involves pre-pubescent kids.
Fine, sex with a minor then.

I doubt you will find any man on this board (at least one who is honest with himself) who wouldn't have jumped at the opportunity when he was 17 and who wouldn't have suffered any "damage" whatsover . . . .
That's true - I would have, and so would many 17 year old girls if an attractive male 29 year old came on to them. It's not about the actions of the guy in this case, however - it's about the actions of the 29 year old teacher and the fact that she received a much lighter sentence than a man would have.
Guys are different. It's a biological thing. Get over it.
Since it's not just a biological thing but also a legal thing, it's not something to just get over.

...I have a solution, only hire ugly teachers. Then the law will be equally applied. Fire all teachers, sell off the school buildings, return property taxes and keep the government out of education and child rearing - that's my solution. - Well I can at least dream it can't I?
