In an blockbusting EXCLUSIVE interview on Dateline NBC, correspondent Matt Lauer sat down with Debra Lafave, the 23 year-old teacher who had sex with a 14 year-old boy on several occasions which made national headlines.
For some ungodly reason, NBC decided this was a groundbreaking story that needed to be told to America. I have one question…

So many of us Old Farts look back fondly at our schooldays, for many reasons. However, when I concentrate on the female teacher aspect of my education, all I get is visions of Helen Thomas.............AAAGGHHHHH..MAKE IT STOP!!!!!!!!!!!!
That's not true. If this happened in the 1950's or 1960's, it would have all been swept under the rug like the Catholic Bishops in the US tried to do w/ the child sex abuse scandals going on under their nose.
She might have been run out on a rail but more likely, most of the people would have thought "boys will be boys" and wouldn't have considered the boy damaged by this at all. She certainly would not have been prosecuted. The fact that she even got house arrest shows that our society actually has gotten more strict about prosecuting sex crimes against children.
At 14 she wouldn't have messed me up.

You just gotta wonder what is up with a gal who looks like that who picks a 14 yo boy rather than some one her own age. Surely she could have her pick of any number of the over 21 crowd, many of whom would gladly cover her expenses.
Instead, she's off for some well deserved jail time. If that boy was 16 or 17, I'd have a lot more sympathy, but not 14. What a waste. What an idiot. Can you imagine her parents right now? Lovely day for them, I'll bet.
I asked myself the same question.
Yeah, I think the PE teacher was more his type.
