Week Three College Football
Week Two gave everyone the earliest #1 vs. #2 showdown in modern college football history. The game, however, turned out to not really live up to the hype. This week we are treated to SEVERAL big games, some of which are in conference in the SEC, and a historically significant rivalry renews in South Bend.
As always, all rankings are from the ESPN.com Scoreboard page. I will also list any games of interest (FReepmail me if you want your team included and I will include them from here on out) and any other games listed in my Yahoo league.
GAME of the WEEK
Saturday, September 16th, 2006 3:30 PM on CBS
(6) LSU at (3) Auburn (-3.5)
This is going to be a fun game to watch I think. We have Auburn which has been the odds-on favorite to win the SEC this year against a very good and very fast LSU team that is looking to spoil the Auburn season AND put itself into the national spotlight. Both teams feature strong defenses, good running games and good coaching. Fewest mistakes wins this game. Im going with the home team.
Auburn 16 LSU 13
Thursday September 14th, 2006 (ESPN Thursday Night Game)
Maryland at (5) West Virginia (-17)
West Virginia gets one of their rivalry games out of the way early. This should be a decent test for a team that hasnt beaten a BCS School yet.
Its not in the pickem league, but Ill give a pick anyway.
WVU 42 Maryland 13

I think kids saw how he handled his QBs and said "Thanks but No Thanks".
Man, I love CW, but every time the ball went up on a long pass from him, you weren't praying for a completion, you were praying AGAINST an interception.
He should have been the tailback, double threat every play.
Tennessee always seems 'lucky' on officiating.
Phil Fulmer is a weasel. Not that Johnny Majors is Mr. Sweetness and Light, but I will always believe Fulmer is a dirtbag for stealing Majors' team from him while he was sick.
At the half...
Clemson 14 FSU 9
Tennessee 10 Florida 7
USC 14 - Nebraska 3
Late in the 3rd quarter
Arizona St 14 - Colorado 3
Remember when Florida and Tennessee used to be 10-7 five minutes into the game not the halftime score?
I'd rather have Wford than Rix any day of the week.
Don't know enough about the situation to give you an opinion either way...
But the school signed off on it, so I'll just leave it at that.
yes
Miami and FSU used to be the same way.
ND used to also play defense.
LOL
Ohio State used to throw the ball less than 10 times a game :)
Which is crazy. Spurrier strikes me as a complete jerk, but he knows the game, he knows how to coach QBs, and his offense is great for college. If you listen to the guy and you have a lick of talent, you have a shot at great exposure at UF.
South Carolina...well...not so much.
But he's still looking pretty decent given..
AAAAAAAAWWWWW DAMMMMMMMMMMIT!
FSU's looking like CRAP!
It used to take Rutgers three years to win three games.
"I'd rather have Wford than Rix any day of the week."
NO argument about that.
I'm starting to think I'd rather have Rix than Jeffy Bowden at this point.
Sorry, but ESPN's website SUCKS!
I know there have been alot of good games today, but what do we get...?...a little after thought..."after a slow start...no. 1 Ohio State rolls.
I would think the NUMBER ONE ranked team in the nation deserves a little better, BUT IT'S NOT SURPRISING, as the mainstream sports media is too busy salivating over ND (sorry, guys) and USC, among others.
Charlie Ward was right up their too, but he could not win against a quick outside when his speed was neutralized. He pulled some big ones out though.
Johnson never started....Funny thing is Johnson started in basketball & played pro football. Ward never started in basketball, but played in the NBA
ND had a defense, Ohio State used to throw the ball less than 10 times a game...
Ok, I had to ping Archie.
"Those...were...the...DAAAAAYS!"
Bowden Jr is a meathead.......back at ya
"The best QB they had was Mcmanus."
All things considered, not sure I agree...but I won't argue that he was a decent decisionmaker.
"Charlie Ward was right up their too, but he could not win against a quick outside when his speed was neutralized. He pulled some big ones out though."
He was a great leader, but could not be reliable if the long pass was necessary.
"Johnson never started....Funny thing is Johnson started in basketball & played pro football. Ward never started in basketball, but played in the NBA"
Johnson started five games. Casey Weldon replaced him. I was at FSU when it happened. I can't believe Johnson's in the pros.
Jeffy needs to be sent to Auburn like Terry was.
....Tonight they're too busy salivating over Michigan.
