Week Three College Football
Week Two gave everyone the earliest #1 vs. #2 showdown in modern college football history. The game, however, turned out to not really live up to the hype. This week we are treated to SEVERAL big games, some of which are in conference in the SEC, and a historically significant rivalry renews in South Bend.
As always, all rankings are from the ESPN.com Scoreboard page. I will also list any games of interest (FReepmail me if you want your team included and I will include them from here on out) and any other games listed in my Yahoo league.
GAME of the WEEK
Saturday, September 16th, 2006 3:30 PM on CBS
(6) LSU at (3) Auburn (-3.5)
This is going to be a fun game to watch I think. We have Auburn which has been the odds-on favorite to win the SEC this year against a very good and very fast LSU team that is looking to spoil the Auburn season AND put itself into the national spotlight. Both teams feature strong defenses, good running games and good coaching. Fewest mistakes wins this game. Im going with the home team.
Auburn 16 LSU 13
Thursday September 14th, 2006 (ESPN Thursday Night Game)
Maryland at (5) West Virginia (-17)
West Virginia gets one of their rivalry games out of the way early. This should be a decent test for a team that hasnt beaten a BCS School yet.
Its not in the pickem league, but Ill give a pick anyway.

"Growing up in the hood with a name like that, I think he is capable of killing someone in two seconds."
Oh yeah
Florida St. just hit a two run homer to make it 6-2 Clemson.
Ya but Mel would talk to a horse (Young Frakinstein).
Clemson just scored a TD after a FSU fumble. Then had the PAT returned the other way. Looks like another wild one is about to break out...
Awwww Geeesh Edith, turnover & a Clemson score
LOL
pretty much...
is FSU going to the bullpen?
"I understand you are upset, and you have legitimate greivances, but I don't understand what you want Oregon to do. 'Okay, you guys deserved that one, so we'll take the L and you get credit for the W.'"
Okay, I'll take that one. If Bush turns out to be ineligible, they'll do that to USC's victories. Why shouldn't they do the same here? And why would a team that plays by the rules accept a victory that wasn't? Answer: they don't play by and don't care about the rules.
So much better for the game to see a team lose if it can't play by the rules, because the game isn't about winning at all costs, but winning within rules that apply equally to all.
Mel talking to a horse is for comedic affect. ABC most likely ordered Corso to do it. That's what makes it rather pathetic.
"Um. WTF? FSU used 3 timeouts in the first 6 minutes of the game? "
That's nepotism for you.
FSU looks like they're lucking their way down the field.
ouch, that guy's season is over. never good to see an injury like that
I'm hoping to see USC obliterate Nebraska so badly the Huskers fall out of the top 25. By the time USC forfeits the game after the season, it'll still be too late for Nebraska.
Hey, I've been a diehard Bengal fan for many years. A true fan goes through the good times, and the bad. I was at one Bengals game a few years ago, seated over their entrance to the lockerroom, and had to listen to the "boos" from our home "fans". I'll never forget the looks of dejection on the player's faces. Made me sick!
That's why I've always respected Green Bay fans. They are nothing if not loyal to their team.
You have no honor sir.
Corso would do the pregame show in blackface, nude, to earn a buck...but at least he's got a sense of humor about it, unlike Herbstreet, the Cris Collingsworth of college commentary.
THat leg injury is just sickening.
why do they keep showing that replay? It looks like he tore all 4 ligaments in his knee
horrible leg injury....ugh
Hope it's not too bad, like all Nebraska Fans we hate to see the other tems players hurt like that.
On a serious note, terrible injury to that kid. You hate to ever see something like that happen.
Who is hurt?
