The Hobbit Hole XXXI - Mawwage is what bwings us togethew today!

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Mawwage is what bwings us togethew today!

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Nice pictures, the last one is particularly picturesque. Thanks for sharing them.

Well, I want to finish. So writing 4k this afternoon was my only chance. I want to get another 1 or 2k this evening and I'll be set.

Guess I should. Though...they usually aren't there on Sundays, now I think about it, and it may be that whoever is working won't wanna let me borrow it without their permission. I'll check, though.

Hopefully I can at least get in 2k today. Guess I should get a move on pretty soon.

At least I now have a writing space. I like my new desk!

I don't think they'll mind loaning it. It's really hard to hurt a hand truck..

And a dryer's really hard to move without it.

What's your new desk like?

I'm so far from done with my story, I'm just writing whichever scenes I know to be upcoming and strike me as interesting at the moment.

Well, there's my 2k. I guess I have a better shot at finishing than I thought I did!

I should just write the ending, since I know it. And a few things in between. Could easily finish the 50k that way.

Here's the desk, along with my latest guilty pleasure: a typewriter I got at Goodwill for a couple of bucks. It's no Alphasmart, but it's a dandy compromise between writing by hand and writing on the 'puter. Still get a paper copy, so I think before I write and can go back to revision 2 and grab a particular sentence that worked better there than in my current revision. I like that. And it looks like I could sell the thing on Craigslist for many times what I paid for it if I decide I don't wanna use it anymore. Even if I only got twenty bucks or so, I'd make a hefty profit. I couldn't resist. ;-)

That's a pretty sweet desk! Very organized.

I'm starting my new job tomorrow. Slightly nervous but not very. Mostly I'm just excited.

Nice desk, Rosie! What do the critters think about all the new furniture and appliances?

Cisco's already been pinched by thenewchair. Oops. He insists on sleeping right behind me against the chair I'm sitting in, and I've told him before not to do that - I can't see him.

I think he'll learn. ;-)

Halvah was more interested in the plastic bag I got at Value Village than in anything else. She got her head through one of the handles and had the thing on like a cape until I rescued her. Silly kitty.

Thanks, that's my hope too!

Got to feed my husband now. We got distracted playing Lego Star Wars. I'm not much of a video game player but that one's mucho fun.

Homer used to do that all the time... I'd scoot my chair back, not knowing he was there, and he'd yelp at me. Hasn't done it as much lately, though, so I guess he finally learned.

How about the dryer? Does it work? :~) It scared me for a minute there.

Would be a good idea to look with a flashlight behind there and see if you see any obvious air escaping where the vent is... see if it's really on there good enough.

Not me!

You've been blessed with this gift...it's one of the reasons God put you on this Earth.

You can do it!

(And I never even got the movie of the old show.)

Don't shoot th' messenger.

;-)

I think it's beautiful!

I still haven't gotten used to frosty weather, since we didn't have it in South Texas...
