Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Mawwage is what bwings us togethew today!
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
|
|
|
|
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
|
|
|
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

Glad y'all got the Internet connection fixed. Does the Missus work from home when she's not traveling?

Yes, she works out of our home office. It's a concept that Nana has yet to grasp.

Ungh...at 250 a page, my main story would be at four hundred and something pages already, with another quarter of the story to go. I guess I'd better do some chopping if I ever get down to editing.
For just writing, I have it at 11 point Garamond, line and a half spacing. 194 pages.
I didn't really sleep at all last night - at least not from sometime after one forward. About to fall asleep at my desk.

I want to take fiddle lessons, too, one of these days. ;-) Actually going to be buying a fiddle from Margaret over the next four or five months - it isn't one of hers, but she worked it over and did some improving. And I know there are tons of fiddlers in the area. Just have to find the right teacher when I'm ready for the committment.

She hung up his fiddle and she hung up his bow,
And she knew it was time for her to go.

Hey everybody-- Hairofthedog and Ecurbh asked me to sign on and let y'all know that their cable internet is out, so they can't get online just yet.
Their power was out this morning, and has since come back, but the internet connection is still down. Aside from that, all is well with them and critters. They had a long night but everybody survived, and they called me while out at breakfast.
To: SuziQ
Yeah. It does tend to be a problem when wife is on a conference call and Nana needs/wants something.

I'm on the phone with Hair now... they've got Cisco over at their place. He was acting all pathetic and they took pity on him and took him in. :-)
To: RosieCotton
Well, for science fiction, average word counts are a lot higher. 100k is a pretty standard size for a space opera, which is what yours is. Don't worry about how long it takes to tell the story, just tell it.

Vey productive day at work, in both the work and the writing-at-lunch senses. I'm less than a day behind on NaNo now.

No, no, no!! It's too early for snow. In normal years, Flagstaff gets a quick storm before Halloween.... doesn't ever last long, tho.

In normal years, Flagstaff gets a quick storm before Halloween...That's just WRONG! Though, I do remember, when we lived in W. Lafayette IN, we went to a Purdue football game with another prof's family, on Oct. 25th, and it started snowing during the game. I was just amazed it would start that early!

Ugh... I am not looking forward to spring in tornado country. Even if we don't get that many here. They still make me vey nervous.
