In normal years, Flagstaff gets a quick storm before Halloween...

That's just WRONG! Though, I do remember, when we lived in W. Lafayette IN, we went to a Purdue football game with another prof's family, on Oct. 25th, and it started snowing during the game. I was just amazed it would start that early!

When I was little, living in Northern Michigan (the U.P.) it was normal to have at least one snowfall before Halloween (sometimes *on* Halloween, which made trick-or-treating not very fun). It rarely stayed on the ground, although it was considered good luck to have snow on the ground before mid-November (the start of deer season...)
