Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Mawwage is what bwings us togethew today!

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

I don't think there's any part of Homer that would be useful in a break-in either. Gidget, maybe, but she's a loose cannon... not exactly what you want in a real battle.

I can just see her going after a bad guy with her mouth full of Kong...yeah, that's intimidating...

Yeah - the kong is kindof counter productive in an attack. And the kong is my fault. I'd give her a kong when she would get agitated at the TV, so she wouldn't bark. Now she thinks she needs it whenever she's agitated.

Well, we've let the horses out and I'm trying to relax. We put FoTR on, hoping that will help.

We've got a potentially very stormy night ahead of us tonight. But I don't want to think about that yet.

This time the danger is more wind than flooding, no?

Though it's still coming down pretty good...and my umbrella is in the car. Go figure.

At least the car is not far :~)

Wind and more rain, which won't help those that are flooding. They're expecting the precip in the mountains to be snow. So that will help with the flooding, unless it melts. :~) So many variables...

They just reported that at 11 inches of rain since the start of November, we are 500% over normal for the month (a little less than 2 inches would be normal)

I think when percentages become really large, or really small, they start becoming not very helpful :~)

If I wait long enough all the leaves will blow into the neighbors' yards.

Oh, I forgot about the various versions of "Christmas Carol"! The Muppets version is a good one, but our favorite is the one where Edward Woodward plays the Ghost. I also like "The Christmas Story", but I haven't found anything written by Jean Shephard that I didn't like. And I love the way he narrates them. Since they're HIS words, who better to say them? We have friends who had one of those stockinged leg lamps!

I agree about the sappy part; sometimes WAY too forced, and the real meaning of Christmas is lost to the 'everybody feel good' idea of Christmas.

When Joseph mows, we have him use the grass catcher. Sucks those leaves right up, chops them up, and he can dump them right in the woods in the back! Heck of a lot easier than raking, that's for sure!

Sigh.

I hate to think what my word count should be. But the laundry hasn't been folded in a week, everywhere needs to be vaccumed, the sink has too many dishes in it... I'm starting to get depressed about my housekeeping skills.

I've got a grass catcher for my mulching mower. The problem is that it's not very big. That and the mower won't start unless it's installed correctly and I've never been able to get it right.

Well, I did 3400 words today... All of it a political speech and crowd reaction and I must say that my character was a speechafyin' something fierce. So, in the past three days, I did about 12,000 words. I am now over 138,000 words and closing in on 500 pages. Now, I know that does not even compare with the tremendous word output that you two have done in just 12 days...but I've been working hard and just wanted to share my success.

...Considering I'm pretty sure my housekeeping skills are why phone guy never called back or communicated really...it could be worse.

And have I worked on improving them...? Well...no, I'm busy.

And therein lies my problem. ;-)

Glad we could provide some impetus. ;-) That's another nice thing about NaNo, seriously...being able to chat with other writers is often a good way to get moving on an older story or figure out ways to move past obstacles.

I feel like I'm writing into the dark these past few days, though...don't have a clue what's happening next. And that bothers me. At least today I had a few break-throughs, so I won't be sitting and staring at the wall at today's write-in.

Out of curiosity, how do you figure pages? I'm just working with a word processor, and I'm not sure how big the average book page is, really.
