Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Mawwage is what bwings us togethew today!

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Well, good. You'd know by now if it was going to!

Well sheesh... I've got to go clean stalls, and honey's got to go to town.

Town? In this? Eek!

Funny how much later it feels. Seems like it's five or six in the evening instead of just one thirty.

Picked a bad day to run out of dry bedding for the horses.

You know what I have discovered about leaves? Eventually they go away on their own! It's amazing!

'Course, here in Oklahoma, if it ain't bolted down, anything is liable to blow away! Heh heh!

I'm at the library. The jedis are with me. Steve is at the VW club meeting across the haul.

Ha! Was reading back over the thread and no, I wasn't at the library last night, but am now!!

I forgot my library card, it's in my other purse. I usually can just ask the librarian for the number (needed to log on) and have never had a problem. Apparently this librarian here is on some kind of feminazi power trip. Gave me the third degree. "You'll have to bring it next time." "Be sure you don't leave this sitting around."

As she was writing out the number, I quoted it to her and then said "Did I get it right?" She took looked at me with such hostility!

I won't tell you what I thought...but we've been friends long enough, you probably know.

"Be sure you don't leave this sitting around."

Well, you know how hot those library cards are on the black market...

I rarely say it out loud...can't remember the last time I did, but I frequenly think it! It's just so appropriate in many cases.

I could see one particular character at least muttering it under her breath at some point...

No kidding. Everytime I think *maybe* it's letting up slightly, it picks up again.

And it's LOUD, too...hard to concentrate on much beyond "it's still raining..."

It's been overcast for days here but not raining much.

We just picked up a couple of "constructable card games". Space ships and pirates. You punch the bits of the ships out of the cards, then build them, then use them for the game. Got our fleets constructed and now we're going to try a round.

And I was struck again by the need to have more in-person friends to play Kung Fu Samurai on Giant Robot Island with.

My wonderful paddock...

I found the horses in the back forty...

It's just miserable out there... It was all I could manage today to try to clear out my drainage ditches and clean stalls so the horses can come in early tonight.

How's everyone else doing today?  Be gentle if you had sun, I'm in a surly humor

Considering the target audience for Kung Fu Samurai and Giant Robot Island, you'd think there'd be on-line versions...

They're still out there though, they're not hunkering in the lean-to like they're begging to come in! I'm gonna go let them in pretty quick anyway... It'd make me feel better if they were out of it.
