Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Mawwage is what bwings us togethew today!

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Sausage, broccoli, and spam.

That's enough to kill any thread. :P

It was the spam that sent it over the edge.

Not quite. The one two years ago was a similar-ish world with a blend of magic and tech and the two main characters were, at the heart of things, the same as the two main characters in this story. Just alternate universe versions of them.

If it comes out the way I'd like I'd love to have you read it.

Oh, and you can write your same one. Just end the one you're on and write the sequel for NaNo.

Heh...I think one of my characters in this story (he's a space pilot) was a modern day guy from a small New England town in my NaNo a few years back. I fell in love with him then, too.

I still have good characters that really should be rescued from the alternate universes they got dumped in.

Oh, and you can write your same one. Just end the one you're on and write the sequel for NaNo.

Ack...no way I'm going to finish it before NaNo. Ain't possible. I've been getting in 2500 words a day this week (since I switched back to writing by hand and then typing it in first thing in the morning), but even so...

No, just end the chapter and write "continued in part two" and call that the sequel. That's the NaNo way...

It's... um.... technically the letter of the law but not the spirit. But the spirit of NaNo be with you...

Having fun here playing Lego-based war games. Heh. And watching Pinky and the Brain. Did I mention we'd found a set of that on DVD? Not the whole series but 20 episodes. Oh, and occasionally getting into an argument on a homeschool thread. You might be amused.

I tell ya...what a day.

That parade was, I'm sorry...the Parade from Hell.

You know I was almost dead sick yesterday...but I woke up feeling rested and pretty good...the weather was clear and nice, I figured I could manage a stroll for a mile tossing occasional handfuls of candy at the little children.

Well, when we got there, (just me and the jedis), we were told that you couldn't toss the candy, you had to put the candy in the kid's treat buckets. What??? Then, suddenly the VWs took off and I found myself RUNNING down the road, hauling a full wagon of candy and ultimately both jedis! They finally got out and started putting the candy in the kid's buckets, Matthew and I took turns pulling the wagon while the other passed out candy. It took all we had, we literally ran most the way, trying to keep up with the VWs. If we slowed down, parade managers yelled "Hurry up!!!" If we stopped, literally mobs of kids would descend on us IN THE STREET, digging in with their own hands into our wagon, grabbing great handfuls of candy IN BETWEEN the VWs!

By the time we got to the end, I could hardly breath, but both boys were sure troopers...they helped me a great deal and we managed to keep up. I felt bad...I'd told them was gonna be fun, but it was actually grueling work. They worked hard, never complained, I'm pretty proud.

I, however, have also completely lost my voice.

Reminds me of Mardi Gras in the late 60's, early 70's before the parade routes were barricaded. The parades would stall and the floats would get mobbed by people wanting beads and trinket trash.

Good Morning ALL: beautiful day in theshire; turned a couple clocks back, glad the 'puter does it automatically. Great day for de-gardening. Gypsygirl got a long walk up the northern part of route today, walked back through downtown, checking out the new pavements and see what gets 'improved' next. btw, the stores are filling the windows with Christmas froofraw, gimcracks and geegaws.
