The Hobbit Hole XXXI - Mawwage is what bwings us togethew today!

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Mawwage is what bwings us togethew today!

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

I turned 18 that year...but didn't end up voting in local elections. I was getting stuff together for boot camp...started in November.

What should I remember?

If I'm guessing correctly, OT is referring to the year the GOP took the House and the Senate.

Wife was covering an event that evening. I remember her coming in and I was glue to the TV. I said "Who the h3!! cares about Ollie (North)? We've won everything else!"

Ah, OK!

I wasn't exactly paying as much attention then.

Hehehe....

I was putting a finish on a bookcase and laughing at Dan Rather's hangdog expression.

Sheesh! Did you just drop by there to check?
Sometimes their help does not call and then I never find out because I don't check regularly :P

I had emailed the photographer asking what was up and she said she'd mailed 'em so I thought I'd stop by. It was a small package... about the size ofa dvd case.

Oh my goodness, there's a *great* picture of Empress here.

*pout* Not around my brother. He always has better gadgets... and more guns.

He sounds like he'd fit in perfectly here at the Hobbit Hole. What would it take for him to stop by?

BTW, I'll stack up the contents of my briefcase in any geek contest. It also has so many hidden pockets, I had forgotten the weapons stashed in them. I even have some cycalume sticks hidden away in there for the next power failure at work.

OB and I were in Tortola having a "Painkiller" at Pusser's and had to be told by a couple who had just flown in. Television was not as pervasive in the BVI as it is now.

Ha!

There used to be a shortwave station from Finland that I'd listen to once in awhile when I was overseas. They had stuff like "Yellow Submarine" sung in Latin. Seriously! It was bizarre, but kinda cool.

That is so odd...! But I guess if the choice was Finnish or Latin, I'd choose Latin too.
