The Hobbit Hole XXXI - Mawwage is what bwings us togethew today!

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Mawwage is what bwings us togethew today!

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

We're seeing Aida tonight. (Elton John/Tim Rice Broadway version).

It's part of the Broadway series we do every year.

That said, my project today is to find a decent wav file of Bach's Toccatta and Fugue.

I have it in MP3 format.

Regarding Aida...somehow I just can't imagine that in Broadway form. Errkay.

Wow!!

I bet those tickets cost a fortune, but it's one of those instances where it's worth every cent!

Don't remember that one.

I do remember when a NC dem candidate for governor was overheard saying he was sick of barbecue.

That was the end of his political career in NC.

If you're referring to the famous Toccata and Fugue in D minor (he wrote LOTS of toccatas and fugues), I also have it in MP3... performed by the Canadian Brass.

Yeah, that's the one I have.

Not by the Canadian Brass, though...kewl.

Matthew and I were going over his science last night. He was learning about the part of a sunspot called umbra. He says to me "You know, umbra means shadow in Latin."

This is his third year, as you know...he's taking Henle I.

I got a report from his teacher...he has a 98 average for the year so far. He had a test yesterday...he got a 31 out of 30. (He got the bonus question right.)

They play a game of some sort where they stand and ding a bell if they know the answer. He kept beating the teenagers, but he said he thought it was just because he was closer to the bell than them (he's shorter.) Ha ha!

On the guitar mailing list I've been on forever, barbecue is kinda their lembas. As in...if it ever gets really quiet, someone will post something like "vinegar ain't no part of real barbecue".

And everything goes insane for a little while. It's kinda fascinating, being as how I don't have a dog in the fight. I'd be happy to eat any and all varieties.

Heh...

Joshua just came in here and said "You know what I love?" I'm thinking he's gonna say me, or chocolate or something like that...so I said "What do you love?"

"Nouns!" he replied.

I figure that just about covers everything.

It's supposedly an incredible show.

2J, this is the treat wife and I do for each other every year. It's not cheap, but we get five evenings a year out with friends and away from family.

Nana is going through another "poor, pitiful me" stage.

Some of it is legit. Most is not.

Yeah, that's the one I want. But I think the editing software I'm using will only accept a wav file. I'll have to check tonight.
