In the "oh, that would be really not good" category, I just realized I had two documents open.
1) A word document for work named "October 10, 2006"
2) A txt document for blogstuff with links and comments, etc. named "October 10, 2006"
I had to email one out to the trolls. Fortunately I realized what I had done and took the thumb drive out before sending the correct document.
So, there's that.
In one of the VW commercials that I like, right after demolishing some dude's pimped up ride, VeeDub says "OH SNAP!"
Disclaimer: I have no idea what "OH SNAP!" means, so if it means something really bad, please forgive me. I don't think it does, though and I felt like what you posted deserved an "OH SNAP!
Actually, I know a lot of people that use that.
It's the equivalent of "oh $#!t"
Kinda like darn and gosh and shoot...so to speak.
Ouch, close one. Yeah I would say that counts for an 'OH SNAP!" moment.
So I would be correct in my assumtion that it is tacky, tackier than "Oh DARN!" but not as tacky as saying "Oh CRAP!" ??
LOL!
Yeah, that wouldn't have been good.
But I'd buy tickets.
Those are what I refer to as 'guardian angel' moments :-)
Actually, I think a lot of parents teach their kids to say that instead of the alternative or even "oh crap."
I think it's s'posted to nicetize it.
The phrase for whom the bell tolls is from John Donne's "No Man Is an Island."
But is it not also from "Macbeth?" Doesn't Lady Macbeth say that to Macbeth when she's about to go murder Duncan?
I can't seem to Google up a clear reference.
A bell rings
I go, and it is done; the bell invites me.
Hear it not, Duncan; for it is a knell
That summons thee to heaven or to hell.
Okay, I was misremembering.
And apparently Macbeth does end up killing Duncan even tho at one point the plan was for Lady Macbeth to kill him.
But it's a cool quote, nonetheless.
Nice couple, the Macbeths...not.
I always wanted to play that role.
hmmmm...that could explain a lot.
I, on the other hand, used to have all of the witches' dialog memorized.
I hope that doesn't explain a lot.
I had to find an online synopsis, because I haven't read it since High School, but Lady Macbeth is the driving force behind the deed. Mac has some doubts about following through, but she calls him a coward and tells him to "screw his courage to the sticking point".
"Behind every great man" and all that, I guess.
She mostly was just goading him into killing Duncan. She plays all hard-boiled but she comes to pieces scenes later while he's getting more and more bloodthirsty; and there's some implication he may have had her done to death.
:P
You're helping me with my nano-prep, arentcha?
I see I'm no longer needed here...
yep, when you show up is when we all say "Out! Out, damned spot!"
