Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Mawwage is what bwings us togethew today!

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

What a coincidence, that is new for me too. The crazy internet stuff might work but I am not sure I will like it enough to be able to keep writing it. I hate the main character already. But I am having a hard time pulling anything else out of the mists.

Food won't really be edible for another ten or fifteen minutes - it has to finish chilling - but you'll be home by then if you leave now :-)

Hmmm. Recommend skeet load with improved cylinder choke. The No. 9 shot gives a nice pattern at close in moving targets.

I took today off because Jr. had "Senior Convocation," which roughly translates as "Dad, send more money..."

I have Nano characters and setting. A plot would be helpful.

Hullo everyone... Back from the conference in Seattle. What used to be a 1-2 hour commute is now a 2-3+ hour commute. Stayed up there last night and that helped a lot. Ramius and I went out for some pints.

Corin.... for your Nano plot... how about a volcano that buries most of Seattle and Tacoma in a hundred feet of muck?- or at least frightens most of the residents into moving away? :~D

Plot is good. I have the beginning and the end of a plot.

In other news, I am apparently a Taliban wannabe who plans to abuse my kids and raise Paris Hilton types just because I don't think it's the government's business to supervise homeschoolers. I love this site sometimes.

Somehow "Taliban wannabe" and "Paris Hilton type" kids don't quite jibe. In my humble opinion, of course. I could be wrong.

Flew home today. Am enjoying Sci Fi Friday. Got lots of nano-prep done on da plane. I wrote it in a little notebook. Words feel different when you write them by hand vs. typing them.

Since we're on the topic and you're my Richmond-area expert... is there any phraseology that is particular to the area? I have one kid who I think is going to say Dude a lot - unless there's something local that's better.
