Conservative Republicans and Government Benefits ZOTTED
Posted on 09/03/2006 10:21:02 AM PDT by Gomer Pile
I am a conservative Republican, and due to circumstances, I currently recieve SSI, AFDC, and food stamps. I voted for Bush twice and would do so again as he really is a compassionate conservative.
Have any other conservatives here ever received government benefits?

I have adult ADD which makes it impossible to hold a steady job.
If you were paying attention it's AIDS...

I once received government money for being hit by lightning.
[I think it is about to happen again]

I got twice-monthly checks from the government for 10 years. Also free medical and dental, reduced-rate life insurance, money for education and free travel to exotic places.
Of course, I had to work my butt off in the Navy to get those "benefits." Does that count?

Have any other conservatives here ever received government benefits? Never. Ever.
We are middleclass nobodies. I lived on 7.00 an hour. Never once did I open my wallet to let Uncle Sugar fill it.
NEVER.

We need to cut back benefits for SSI, AFDC, and food stamps and give more tax breaks to the rich. The ashtray on my Porsche is nearly filled with Montecristo No. 2 cigar butts so that car needs trading in, and I need a fast car to escape after stealing dog food from little old ladies.

If you are truly injured at work and are recovering, or some similar situation, then we have temporary safety nets to help you prepare for a successful return to employment,
Problem is some people view welfare as the ultimate pay day with food stamps, housing vouchers, money, free health care and working gray markets for money on the side.
Temporary safety nets are OK.
Permanent or abuses of social programs are bad.

Firefighter is an excellent suggestion. Just what an ADDer needs: physical exercise, excitement, quick thinking & analysis, new challenges each time, and knowing what you do is important.
My bro-in-law fights forest fires in the Black Hills and also runs the department's maintenance shop. He's not wealthy, but he really seems to love what he does.
