JonBenet
Wall Street Journal Opinion Journal ^ | August 30, 2006 | DOROTHY RABINOWITZ

Two days into the JonBenet Ramsey/John Karr media deluge, a mid-fortyish male in line next to me at a food shop groaned at the day's newspaper headlines. "Now," muttered this stranger--though he wore a baseball cap with bill turned backward, which suggested a few things about him one could know right off--"now we're not going to hear about anything but this damned story for the next six weeks."

I sympathized, forbearing to tell him that it would have plenty of competition, what with the networks set to embark on round-the-clock wallowing in the Katrina anniversary.

"...good, Southern common sense" was a phrase that Patsy Ramsey was known to frequently use in reference to John Ramsey prior to JonBenet's murder. It surely is far from coincidence that it appears in the "ransom" note. Coupled with the knowlege of John's bonus- inside job...

How much physical strength does it take to twist a garrote AFTER you have whacked her in the head with something and she is knocked out?
Didn't Burke get sent out of the country to school after this happened?

Of course Burke was jealous of his beauty queen sister who got all the attention. Burke as killer is the only thing that makes sense.

Patsy would NEVER have killed her ticket back to the world of beauty pageants.

You who think Patsy did it are just appalled at the beauty queen thing and think Patsy needs to be punished for it.

An intruder, a real intruder, would not have written a ransom note on stationery in the house and edited it and then stuff the body in a closet that was almost hidden from view.........

I've always thought that was an interestng theory. I can't imagine anyone else the Ramsey's would cover for. And he's been in virtual seclusion since then. But I still think it was an accident initially.

Yes, it was Christmas night or the day after wasn't it? Burke didn't get whatever it was he wanted and his disappointment turned to rage. I grew up with a sociopath younger brother. One thing I learned early on, don't anger them..........

Did you publicly accuse family members of horribly committing one of the most demented and heinous acts that could be imagined for your own amusement?

I didn't think so.

Parents lost their child in the worst way that anyone could imagine, in addition, they have been accused my people who couldn't possibly know of doing one of the most despicable acts that ever occurred. Their lives were ruined and pain must be unbearable. All for the prurient amusement of unthinking people.

If they did it, they deserve it, but in this case, it's without a trial. Actually, without even an accusation.

Grand juries are rubber stamp machines, and as unsympathetic as these people were when this happened, even they wouldn't ACCUSE them, much less convict them.

So, there is a big difference between Kennedy and Earhart. A very big one.

Off the subject but WTF is this supposed to mean?

Any 40-ish looking male wearing his cap backwards on his head has just plain never grown up. "Trying to look hip" at 40 is truly embarrassing, imo.

So intruders have a certain way of doing things?
Thats a bit of a stretch.

Another Freeper has declared the Ramseys guilty because of pineapple.

If Burke is a sociopath I think some signs of that would have come up already.

I'll take the word of John O'Neil (FBI) and Detective Lou Smit over wild speculation any day.

The question is not whether I accused or not. And in any case, it wouldn't matter if I did or not.

People are free to speculate on this case - based on the evidence that they're aware of.

"I think lots of southerners use that phrase."

Maybe...but how many southerners use that phrase and knew that John Ramsey's bonus was $118,000????

Of course they are, it's a straw-man.

And I am free to deride and ridicule them for their childish, hurtful and despicable bloodsport hobby.

I saw the tour of the house after they moved out. The place where her body was "discovered" was overlooked by police at their first search of the premises. It was not plainly visible from first glance. A stranger would not have known it was available for use. BTW, I have forgotten, so do you know, who exactly, discovered the body? Was it a police investigator or a member of the family?...........

So are you saying that they "hid" the body in the basement so that the police couldn't find it?

HA HA.

If my memory serves me, the police did look in the door but didn't turn on the light and see the body.
