Parents lost their child in the worst way that anyone could imagine, in addition, they have been accused my people who couldn't possibly know of doing one of the most despicable acts that ever occurred. Their lives were ruined and pain must be unbearable. All for the prurient amusement of unthinking people.
If they did it, they deserve it, but in this case, it's without a trial. Actually, without even an accusation.
Grand juries are rubber stamp machines, and as unsympathetic as these people were when this happened, even they wouldn't ACCUSE them, much less convict them.
So, there is a big difference between Kennedy and Earhart. A very big one.
The question is not whether I accused or not. And in any case, it wouldn't matter if I did or not.
People are free to speculate on this case - based on the evidence that they're aware of.
They didn't know who did what and if accused at that time, double jeopardy would attach.
