Socialism is best because under socialism. No one has to worry about being poor or starving to death. No one is poor, unemployed, discriminated, everyone is equal reguardless or race or creed. Today such ideas are condemned as evil. Any attempt to protest against slavery and genocide and human rights violations are met with the cries of COMMUNISM! By the religious right and then they conjure up stories about Stalin, Gulags, tortue, police state etc. So therefore we must stick with the current system of sweat shop slavery, poverty and racism while rich people who already have all they will ever need in life continue to thrive off our blood sweat and tears.
CAPITALISM KILLS:
Amazing how they criticize socialism and incorrectly lump Socialism with communism especially when capitalism has murdered more people than any other ideology. One forgets how capitalism starves the poor, about how beggars are thrown in jail, how native indiginous populations are exterminated so the rich can make an extral million bucks! They dont mention about how they control and oppress the people and how the masses are enslaved 48 hours a day in big factories so the rich can make money. They dont talk about women being abused and mistreated and discriminated. The Ku Klux Klan were Capitalists, the Nazis were capitalists, Augusto Pinochet was a capitalist, Ronald Reagan, Pol Pot, Queen Victoria, Columbus, George Bush, Bill Clinton, Hillary Clinton, Pat Buchanan, the pope, Osama Bin Laden and the terrorists they are all capitalists. Why dont we scream about the ills of their "system" of whatever!
COMMUNISM VS SOCIALISM
There is a big difference between socialism and communism. Communism is where the state controls everything. This is very similar to capitalism. The state controls the lives and destinies of everyone. Under socialism, everyone controls everything and everything belongs to everyone. We dont need to worry about stealing or going hungry or any of that stuff.
You might say, but hey! Who is going to have to work and whats the incentive for work?
Well of course that is somthing else but not to worry! Everyone will be working rich and poor. The workers however will decide everything and we can let the filthy stinkin rich worry wome other time. Everyone will have a job and be paid lots of money. I propose a minimum wage of $20.00 an hour for all workers. A maximum hour work week of 30 hours in a 8 day work week. Every company must hire unemployed workers reguardless of age sex race creed or education and we should also have an education system run by the people who will decide as a whole what to learn and if all else fails, we should can the rich and redistribute their weatlh. dont worry. They have plenty more where that comes from ;) YES! SOCIALISM! IT IS THE BESTEST GOVERNMENT EVER! I CANT WAIT! VIVA LA REVOLUTION!

It sometimes snows here in the valley, but not enough to ever stick. Mt. Charleston has a ski resort, and if I want to play in the snow, I can go there...it's 17 miles from here.
The wind chill is the big thing here. Because of the configuration of the Valley, wind has a tendency to get "trapped" and can blow for days. Close to the end of that time, people get really stupid and the static electricity makes touching anything an exercise in junior science. "Watch Mr. Wizard" would be a good show, here!
Sometimes, the wind can blow at 40 miles an hour (sustained) and it can be 25 degrees out. You KNOW the wind chill is going to be nasty...around -24. *Br-r-r-r-r!*
How are things in your neck of the woods?
you & lots of other folks missed "a GOODIE"!
TT is a great speaker. and his book is WORTH finding/reading: IN MORTAL DANGER.

Just your description would make me want to find a bear's den and curl up beside the bear.
How Poetic
A dreary dreamy young poet
Sailed off to a South Sea isle.
He met a girl named Laura
Who bewitched him with her smile.
Often she would dance for him.
He and she were pals.
But no one ever told him
That she was a cannibal gal.
One fine day she ate him -
'Tis sad to tell of his fate.
How hard to be remembered
As the poet Laura-ate.
["Burna Shave" seems like the appropriate last line ending]
In some of the nastier winters here, I've been known to wear thermal underwear, two pairs of socks, two sweaters, and a jacket IN THE HOUSE!
I have an electric mattress pad and flannel sheets and a down comforter. I can put on enough to almost be warm!
I like it.
Earth sheltered housing comes to mind. If ever I build a house, a sizable component of it will be underground.
Another thing to consider is that with that reliable a source of wind, capturing its energy would appear to make sense.
I wonder if anyone makes a wind-driven heat pump?
Yah!
Burma Shave! Too bad they don't still have those...
I'm outt here for a bit...
Agreed.
Time to go.
Oh sure.
Ping me and leave.

Hi!
Howdy!
Hi Face!
It's it warming up for you?
Actually, we're beginning to cool off, now. It's supposed to be 95 today, with a slight breeze, and that's a little too cool for me. I'll have to go to the storage unit and get some warm clothes...;o] And my down comforter...
We have 62 for a high, but it only feels like it in the sun.
When it's out.
;-)
