(CBS4) BOULDER, Colo. A CBS4 source close to the JonBenet Ramsey investigation has confirmed that the DNA of John Mark Karr doesn't match that of the foreign DNA found on JonBenet Ramsey's body when she was killed.
There will be no charges filed against Karr, CBS4's Rick Sallinger reports.
It wasn't immediately clear whether Karr would be released by authorities later on Monday.
Karr was given a mouth-swab DNA test while he was in Thailand, a law enforcement official who spoke on condition of anonymity because of the ongoing investigation has told The Associated Press. The results of that test were not known.
Boulder County District Attorney's Office spokeswoman Carolyn French said Saturday that professional conduct rules and a judge's gag order prohibited her office from commenting on evidence.
JonBenet was found strangled with a skull fracture. Authorities once said her parents were under "an umbrella of suspicion," but prosecutors never charged anyone in the case.
He heard you could free sex changes in CO. prisons but, not yet in CA.
As long as they charge Karr and whoever egged him on....
I thought he wasn't charged with anything in Thailand. Didn't they arrest him in his hotel room, for JonBenet and nothing else? I seem to remember a Thai official saying he was not being held for crimes there. Am I wrong about this?
He got his 15 minutes and then some.......
Just being optimistic but I remember reading that pedophiles are sometimes "networked". Perhaps he knows the actual perp? I would think that the details he gave that were not released to the public might support this theory?
Nah! ................ when they put this sicko in a PsychWardChurchillNuthome ........ there will be a number of news media sickos who wish to completely cover his wonderful sex change operation.
I personally think he's looking for the Audrey Hepburn look in the future.
I don't think anyone can be charged with anything in Thailand.....ok, maybe that's an exaggeration, but I think you can get away with beau-coup stuff there.....
From everything we've heard about the "civil servants" in Boulder -- "fooling" fools isn't difficult..
Remember, the University of Colorado at Boulder - STILL has Ward Churchill on the payroll and "teaching" classes.
The leftist liberal bastards in Boulder will fall for anything and cover their own to the end....
Semper Fi
Would it be fraud? That must be illegal in Colorado.
So, just like he planned, now he's in America and probably won't face anything here or be sent back to Thailand for the crimes he committed there and he'll be let go into society where he can do more damage to more families/children.
They NEVER should have brought him back to the US in the first place. They could have very easily left him where he was and did all the "testing" they needed before spending our tax dollars to bring him here so he can now be free...
Pffft
No, you are not wrong. He was not in a Thai prison, he was living in a small apartment until he was arrested in this case on the word of that British professor who corresponded with him.
I'll concede after I hear a formal announcement. There are finger prints and a palm print.
I think the DA will still be very interested in Mr. Karr. I've suspected from the start that they didn't arrest him because they were convinced he did the deed, but because he had information which they didn't believe he could have gotten from the public domain, indicating that he may have direct knowledge of who did. That, and the fact that shortly after he came to the attention of the Boulder DA, he was hired as a 2nd grade teacher for a school in Bangok. At that point, the DA already had investigators over there, I believe with the full knowledge of Thai authorities.
Thai authorities were then looking at a US citizen known to have an outstanding arrest warrant on child porn charges from California, and who had just begun teaching a second grade class in Bangkok. At that point, it was a given that Thai authorities were going to deport him, and the only question was whether they would just stick him on a plane home, or deliver him directly to some US authorities. The Boulder DA, already represented in Bangkok and with a huge vested interest in getting to the bottom of this case, was more eager to take him than the Sonoma County court.
I still suspect that he got the "only the killer would know" info via a leak from low level clerical staff at the Boulder DA's office or police dept. Any tidbits of info about that case would have 10 years to make their way around the JonBenet-fixated sickos neighborhoods of the Internet, which Karr obviously frequented. But it's possible that it came from the real killer, who would also likely frequent those neighborhoods.
It looks like all Karr wanted was a free plane ride home, coutesy of the taxpayers of this fair land.
OK..thanks Cedar Dave.
"How many people here ever thought this guy did it?"
One, maybe;)

Isn't he having his own legal problems?
SBTC also is an acronym used by some religious people meaning "saved by the cross." Not exactly appropriate in a ransom note.
